Fridge not staying cold

I have a GE Profile Stainless Steel Side by Side that is only about 4-6 years old. We had a power outage and since then, our fridge isn't as cold as it should be. (Power Outage could be a coincidence) I have had the GE Service man out 4 times and he tells me everything is okay, but my milk continues to spoil after just a few days. I bought a thermonitior and it generally reads at 40F. He replaced the damper, replaced the light switch, opened a vent wider, but our milk continues to spoil. We have tried all different brands of milk from several different locations. Do you have any suggestions? We have paid $400 in repairs already and I am about to cut my losses and just buy a new fridge

Our referigerator temperature is set for 37, but reads 53 the freezer is set at -3 and reads 23 nothing will freeze in the freezer (but the ice maker still works) and nothing is very cold on the referigerator side. The referigerator is apx 4 years old

I have the same issue, the fridge stays cold for 6 hours then the temp goes up. Unplug the unit, plug it back in and it works for another six hours. I also had a power outage, and that's when this all started. The unit is less than 2 years old.

Don't buy GE Profile or any of their products due to parts made in many different countries which is causing poor equipment defect issues.

GE will not take any responsibilities to resolve the problems and a class action lawsuit is available.

We woke up this morning and the freezer was thawing. There was a puddle in the middle of the floor. I have been researching and found that it may be a bad overload switch. I called around and found a local company with the part in stock - $64.00. Lowe's can order it, but takes 1-2 business days - $44.00. One technician told me if you unplug the refridgerator, the compressor may come back on, or try to come back on, for a little while, but then will shut off again if it is going/has gone bad. The part is one you can return, so I am giving it a shot. Hope that helps.

Milk is a very delicate product. If you store it on an upper shelf it will not stay as cold as storing it on a lower shelf. The temperature you quoted for the refrigerator is satisfactory. Making sure the condenser under the back behind a removable panel will help the system run more efficiently and save on your electric bill also. Also behind the veggie drawers on the left bottom of the refrigerator compartment is a vent which returns the air from the refrigerator to the freezer to be cooled. Check and make sure there is nothing obstructing the air flow at that point.

How can I fix my fridge?

think twice. You replace this, but it still is a 14 year old fridge. Next week something else can go down. The newer ones use less power to cool the same amount.
Buy a new one, you have warranty, and in its lifetime it will save you money on the electricity bills.
