First thing to try and do is check that the fan is blowing and clean that out. Check your power plugs connection take it out and reinsert it to make sure it has a snug fit. If none of that helps it could be a more serious problem like a bad/dry solder joint.
Hope this helps keep me updated,
Lee

I have the f61 code on a panasonic surround sound. should both fans spin on power up?

Pretty sure both fans should turn. If the unit senses the fan not turning, it will shut down as you are describing. Try taking the label off of the fan so you can see the bearing, and put a couple drops of oil in there. This sometimes get them to turn freely again.

DIsconnect sound Amplifier ic (RSN).After removal of the ic if the unit works o.k offcourse without sound than replace ic.If still f61 than sound ic is o.k and check voltege regulators in power supply. You can check dc detect line if it gets activated.

F61

Output IC is defective. Not much to do except have the main unit serviced.Output IC is rather costly. Before taking it for service, disconnect all speakers and power on.In F61 comes up IC is definetly bad.If unit works reconnect 1 speaker at a time(with power off) and retest each time.Repair bad speaker .
