I would say that you have to format your hard drive now as it has a bit of this and a bit of that on it, which will confuse the issue.
Place your Windows disk in the DVD tray and boot your pc. When the menu gets to requesting a repair or new system, choose new system and let it format and prepare you drive properly. That should fix your problems.
It does take a while to install but 7 hours is a bit excessive. Have you got enough RAM to run the OS?
Check with the instructions on the box or go to Microsofts web site and check.
Hope that sorts your problem out.

Upgrading from vista to win7

I would start by deleting partitions and doing a full format. Then loading an OS. Check MS minimum system requirements for OS and double them.

If it crashes again. Start checking RAM.

How do i change XP Pack 3 to Windows 7

Hi, you need to re-install the operating system (OS). If you need the back up, copy the files in your Desktop & My Documents (because these items are in C drive) to another drive. After that insert windows 7 CD in your drive & restart the machine. Press F12, it'll shows the boot order. Select CD drive. OR change the boot order in BIOS. After restarting It'll shows PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD. press any key & continue your job.

Warning : Pls make sure that you are installing the OS in to the 'C' drive, otherwise you will lost your back up.

If you are using Windows XP, here's what you can do to fix the problem:

1) Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2) When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
3) Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
4) Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
5) You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
6) Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "e." This letter may be different on your computer.

copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

7) Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

If you have tried each of the above recommendations that apply to your situation and you continue to experience this issue it is possible you may have a seriously corrupted version of Microsoft Windows. Therefore we would recommend you reinstall Windows XP.

I am installing os windows xp sp2 19 minutes left power shut off 3 times , when power on windows start up to mouse arrow pop up, what shall I to continue installation acer laptop?

The computer will continue to reinstall windows. It will say restarting installation, simply continue. If it stops again make sure you are using a good copy of OS CD and not a pirated one. Do a full format before attempting to install one.

My sceen is dark and i dont know what setting that change it

There are some files in the [ Windows 32 ] are missing or not function properly . You can fix the problem by repairing the OS .

Here is how to repair OS .

I had this problem before . What I did to solve it ? . I took the OS CD [ windows xp ] and inserted it in the CD driver .

I rebooted the system .

While the system is rebooting , I started booting from the CD .

When the computer asked me , if I want to install fresh copy of OS I agreed with it .

After that the computer will load some files from the CD .

Then It will stop to ask me again if I want to install fresh copy of OS or I want to repair the OS , I chose repairing OS ..

That's it . Just repair the OS and problem will be solved

I hope that will help .
