Computer crashing We are currently running windows XP and have sent it away to many professionals none or whom can fix the problem. the problem is we get a blue screen which dumps memory and we have to restart the computer. The blue screen says- A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. the problem seems to be caused by the following file; ati2dvag if this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps: the device driver got stuck in an infinant loop. this usually indicates a problem with the device its self or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. please check with your hardware device vender for any driver updates. Technical information; ***STOP: 0x000000EA (0x839650B0, 0x83F6D8B0, 0xF7987CB4, 0x00000001) ati2dvag Beginning dump of physical memory. Hi,

Its down to the graphics card/graphics controller, the Ati drivers are conflicting with the other hardware and the system files.

The Ati CAT drivers have been very hit and miss for a long time, all I can suggest is that you download older versions of the CAT drivers for your model of graphics card and make sure they match with your CPU model, try them until you get a stable system.

Also, just out of interest what type of CPU, Graphics card and OS are you using - I will do a bit more research for you then.

Cheers

I need to re-install Windows XP Home Edition

Contact Averatec and order recovery media, if they are still available.
If you cannot get a Windows XP OS to install, you can always try Linux. The Ubuntu distribution, and most other ones are free.

Acer aspire crashes and to reboots when i try to record video game footage

There is a good chance of still getting a blue screen with a OS upgrade. You should try a clean install. Then try testing the RAM. Leave one DIMM at a time and swap to one slot at a time. This may help identify a bad one.

Crash windows xp

If the crash happens constantly you'll need a windows xp operating system disk then insert it into the CD Drive, click to Install and after you press F8 to accept the license agreement the system will search for any already existing windows xp operating sytems that are installed. If it finds your select R to repair the current operating system, this will preserve your documents, music, pictures, videos and programs.

My comouter first blanked out and opened and closed windows/programs and then went back to normal. It then did it again for quite a while until I finally did a hard shutdown. When I turned it on it...

Errors on the hard drive or corrupt files/programmes are the usual cause of that sort of erratic behaviour.
When you get it back start it up and as soon as you get into Windows, run CHKDSK/F straight away, the computer then will shut down, or you must shut it down. As you reboot it, it will be in DOS mode and CHKDSK/F will run and try and fix the errors.
If that is not succesful, start the laptop up with your Windows System Disk and choose repair system.
Hopefully that will solve your problem. If not, you may need to format your drive and start again with a new system.

I have the acer5715/5315 series abd it crashed. I had it fixed and the guy put windows 7 so now none of my acer programs work. How can I get these to work with windows 7

Operating System Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2
Windows Vista Home Premium
Windows Vista Home Basic
Windows Vista Starter

1. Before upgrading to windows 7, you must check the specification of your acer aspire 5315.

2. Windows 7 is better than windows vista but if you are really wanted those acer programs to work. You have to downgrade your operating system from your previous operating system.

I get a weird message when I try to boot up my computer. it is

Sounds like a failed windows update crashed the operating system. If Vista, boot to the Vista DVD, select the option to repair your computer and see if that will resolve, repeat running the repair process until it reports no errors.
If windows XP, boot to XP CD, press R at 1st prompt, run CHKDSK /R and see if that fixes the boot process.
If those fail, then you might have some luck with a repair of your Windows Installation from the Windows CD

Hard drive crash

The guy that told you it would only cost $40 is not telling the truth. Windows XP runs around $125.00. If you download an operating system from the web, Microsoft can see that your copy of Windows is not valid and disable your system from a remote server. I recommend buying Win XP from Best Buy. It is currently on sale until Jun 26, 08 for $99.99.
