SOURCE: Is my LaCie External USB 2.0 500GB fried/dead???

Does it make any clicking/clunking sounds like any of these?
If yes - it's really bad and there's nothing you could by yourself..
If it sounds normal or doesn't spin up at all then try to remove it from enclosure and connect directly to a PC.

Has the drive been formatted? Before using a hdd it has to be formatted. In Windows XP you have choices of FAT 32 or NTFS format. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: trouble seeing my lacie drive possible mounting issue

Hello,

It sounds like the RAID controller in the LAcie drive may have failed. When this happens generally the data on the drive is left intact but you will require a new casing for the drives and the help of a data recovery pro to get the files off before you can re-initialize the set. Unfortunately all the good free/cheap utilities work only on single drives so you will need the help of a pro with high level software and additional equipment to retrieve the files.

If you are in North America I would recommend Armor-IT Data Recovery, they're listed in the FixYa service database for most US states. If you're outside North America, post your location and I will help you find an appropriate service.

SOURCE: PC no longer recognises LaCie drive

Hi Katya!
There are several possible causes for this. You didn't specify if you're running Windows or Mac so I apologize in advance if some of the information I provide does not apply.

  1. If you recently performed a Windows Update, there's a patch to fix your issue; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925196#fixit4me
  2. There is a firmware upgrade for your external hard drive. It is located here: http://www.lacie.com/ca/support/drivers/index.htm?id=10007
  3. If the above solutions don't solve your problem, you may try uninstalling the device and reinstalling it. This should clear any communications errors it may have
I do hope I was able to solve your issue. I wish you the best of luck.

Doesnt print. red light on-have changed toner. when print pressed no item goes into print q

Try rebooting the computer that the printer is connected to. If networked, go to control panel and find services, then stop and restart the print spooler service. If these items dont work then try samsung support because you may have a deeper issue with your printer.

How to setup finger print sensor

When you start a machine with a Fingerprint reader for the first time, you will see the following screen when you reach the Desktop. This is the main console for configuring and managing the Fingerprint reader.

Here you can enroll your fingerprint, and adjust your Power-on security settings.

When you click on “Create new passport and enroll fingerprints” you will be prompted for your logon password.

Once you enter your password you will see the main enrollment screen.

You can select a fingerprint to enroll either by selecting the fingertip with your mouse, or by choosing from the drop down list. To enroll, either double-click the fingertip you wish to use, or press the Enroll button

On the left is an animated finger that demonstrates how to swipe. You must swipe your finger three times to enroll.

If your finger is not centered, you will be prompted to move it to the right or to the left. If it’s not able to read at all you will be prompted to try again.

When you swipe successfully, you will see the highlighted portion go to No. 2 for the finger printer to be swiped again.

Once you have swiped three times successfully, the three images merge into one and you are brought back to the main enrollment screen, where the enrolled finger is shown with a red dot.

  • You can enroll multiple fingers.
  • The Enroll button has changed to say Delete. This allows you to delete a fingerprint you have already enrolled. If you used the mouse to click on a fingertip that was not already enrolled, the button would change back to Enroll.
When you click Next you are brought to the Power-on Security screen.

This is also the second choice from the main Fingerprints enrollment screen. Here you can use a fingerprint to replace your Power-on passwords if you are using them.

If you are using Power-on passwords, then select the box at the top. When you click on the Add button, you will be shown a list of the fingers that you have enrolled, and can select which one(s) you want to enable to replace your Power-on passwords.
Once you select a choice from the box, the finger will show up in the list. The first time you restart your machine after this, you may be asked to swipe your fingerprint as well as enter any Power-on passwords you have set. After that you should only be asked for your fingerprint.

  • Predesktop Authentication
    • In addition to the process above, there is a setting in BIOS that must be enabled for a user to be prompted for their fingerprint instead of a Power-on password. The Default for this Setting is “Enabled”, so no change should be necessary. It is in the Security Section under Fingerprint. The setting is called “Predesktop Authentication” Again, the default is “Enabled”. If disabled, a user will not be able to use their fingerprint on Power-on.
  • Security Mode
    • This controls what password will allow a user access to the system if they are not able to gain access using their fingerprint. The default setting is “Normal”. This will allow the use of either a user Power on password, or a Supervisor password instead of a fingerprint.

The alternative setting is High. This will allow only a Supervisor password to be entered instead of a fingerprint to gain access to the system.
Once you click Finish, you will be brought back to the main Fingerprints screen.

The Create new Passport and enroll fingerprints choice has gone. Replacing it are two new choices:
  • Edit passport and fingerprints
  • Delete passport and fingerprints.
If you choose Edit passport and fingerprints you will be prompted to swipe your finger to confirm your identity

You will then see the password screen. Click next to go to the main enrollment screen.

This is the same screen that appears when you have successfully enrolled a fingerprint.

Here again you can delete or enroll fingerprints

I trust this was helpful and thank you for contacting the experts.

Green light flashing Red light on

with regards to the status of the lights., its either the cartridges that you installed is not recognized by the printer's print head or cartridges are defective.
try these steps:
if all the inks are new take them out and get an eraser and rub the small chip gently so as to clean the contacts of the chip ( don't touch it with your finger ) reinsert the cartridges in the printer and allow it to charge.

Finger print not reading

Hi, My Name is Henry. I am one of the technicians here.

The problem you are experiencing happens to a lot of people.

When you start your computer and waiting for the registry and everyother thing to load up, it takes time for the application that runs the Biometric to be loaded and that is why you have to wait.

As for 30 times of swiping, I think that is too long.

Try updating your Bios from the Dell Support. Go here http://support.euro.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen&~ck=pn

Choose drivers and download and follow the instructions. Be very careful because when updating the Bios it could actually mess you system if you do not follow the right instruction.

I believe if you do this, it may reduce your waiting time on the Biometric reader.

Regards
Henry

I have dv9000 notebook computer. how to config there finger print password

1. In Windows, double-click the VeriSoft Access Manager icon in the notification area of the taskbar.
2. On the “My Identity” page, click Log On, located in the upper-left corner of the page.
The VeriSoft Access Manager Logon Wizard opens.
3. On the “Introduce Yourself” page, enter the user's Windows password, if one has been established,
and then click Next.
4. On the “Services and Applications” page, click I want to, and then click Register Fingerprints.
NOTE: By default, VeriSoft Access Manager requires registration of at least 2 different
fingers.
5. When the VeriSoft Access Manager Registration Wizard opens, click Next, and then slowly swipe
your finger across the sensor.
NOTE: The right index finger is the default finger for enrolling the first fingerprint. You can
change the default by clicking the finger you want to register first, on either the left hand or
the right hand. When you click a finger, it will be outlined to show it has been selected.
6. Continue swiping the same finger over the fingerprint sensor until the finger on the screen turns
green.
NOTE: The progress indicator advances after each finger swipe. Multiple swipes are
necessary to register a fingerprint.
NOTE: If you need to start over during the fingerprint registration process, right-click the
highlighted finger on the screen and then click Start Over.
7. Click a different finger on the screen to register, and then repeat steps 5 and 6.
NOTE: If you click Finish before registering at least 2 fingers, an error message is
displayed. Click OK to continue.
8. After you have registered at least 2 fingers, click Finish.
9. To set up the fingerprint reader for a different Windows user, log on to Windows as that user and
then repeat steps 1 through 8.
