Question about Lexmark C500n Laser Printer
If you open your printer front and pull out all the toner cartridges, on the left, you will see 4 LED lights vertically in a column that match up with 4 matching red light receptor sensors on the right side. Each toner cartridge has a tiny window on each side. When the toner powder level drops below the window level, a light passes all the way through the cartridge from the LED light to the light receptor and trips the printer to display the low toner warning.
The goal is to BLOCK THE LIGHT. The easiest way is to put electrical tape over the window on the right side of each cartridge window. To ensure you have the proper hole, just shine a flashlight in the hole and you will see the reflection from the tiny plastic window.

I found a fix for this! Take the cartridge out. On each side of it there is a hole (I believe that this is a sensor...) place a small piece of electrical tape over these holes. Place cartridge back in.... no more error! But I would go out and get some toner soon though!

Nope..none that exists..that warning is based on approx 20% of the ink remaining

? Remove the toner cartridge. Gently shake the toner cartridge from side to side and front to back several times to redistribute the toner, and reinsert it. Repeat this procedure multiple times. If the print remains faded, replace the toner cartridge.

The printer is ready to receive and process data. In addition, the toner in the toner cartridge is getting low.
You can press and release Continue button to clear the light sequence and continue processing the print job. Turn the printer off and remove the toner cartridge, and shake it to extend the life. If toner light is on, replace the toner cartridge.
