How do I get my dvd/cd to start when I put it in my computer?

You can go to file explorer or file manager and click on the drive letter of your CD/DVD which is usually like a Drive D:, E: or later drive letter.

Once you click on the right driver letter in file explorer it's going to try to read it. It will then open up the files on the CD/DVD or try to start the application you may have installed for reading a CD/DVD.

If you don't have an application installed to view the CD/DVD it may give you a message that "Windows could not find a suitable application to open your file.." but it will ask to pick which application you'd like to try and open the CD/DVD with. Something like media player should show in the list if you have it installed.

Printer software does not show up on desktop when I put the CD in the CD drive. I need to install my printer (HP OfficeJet Pro L7680 All-in-One) to my computer.

You can either open the CD-drive with your Explorer/Finder and open the setup file or you can download the drivers from the HP website.

I dont know how to install the firmware for my mp4 i really need help

Hello,

Do you have the CD for the SMPK8858 ?

Then put the CD into the CD drive or DVD drive of your computer and explore the CD, for the firmware update look under:
\Firmware Upgrade tool\ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0\setup.exe
1. explore or double click folder Firmware Upgrade tool
2. explore or double click folder ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0
3. run or double click file setup.exe: this will start the installation of the update software on your computer.

After the installation of the setup.exe file, run the firmware update program to start the update for your player.

Most Sylvania players will have a CD provided. When you don't have it, download the driver (a zip file) from Curtis:
http://www.curtisint.com/html/CustService/Manuals/SYL_SMPK8858_DRIVER.ZIP
After the download unzip the file with WinZip or WinRar:
now look for the firmware installation program under
SYL_SMPK8858_DRIVER \ SMPK8858 \ Firmware Upgrade tool\ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0 \ setup.exe
Double click the setup.exe, the same procedure as when using the CD.

There is also a manual for SPMK8858 (a pdf file) online:

I cannot download a family CD on my computer. there is no tool bar with file etc

Unlike a camera memory card, a regular data CD may not auto open/load into your computer. You need to insert the CD into the CD drive while the computer is running,. It should automatically open Windows Explorer and show the contents of your computer. The CD drive will be an item listed. double click on the drive (probably D:) to show it's contents. Then copy any files from the cd to your documents or photos folder.

INSTALLATION ON PRINTER DRIVER

Close the manual. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the CD. Explore the CD looking for a driver folder or a setup.exe command and double click the command which hopefully will set up the printer driver. If there is a driver folder, check to see what kind of files are there. If they are *.dll or *.sys files then you have to use Windows control panel to install them. Let me know what you find.

Installation disc doesn't show up on my computer (Dell XP)

Right click the start button and choose explore, then show my computer and look for the folder of your cd drive ( D or E?) and click on the HP cd and it should open in the explorer window. See if there's a read-me file or a setup.exe file and click on that for instructions or to run the cd.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Navigate to the CD drive. To do this, click on "Computer" either from the desktop or from the Windows logo round button on the lower left of your screen. You should find "Computer" on the menu. Once in there, right-click on your CD drive and select explore. This will show you the contents of the CD. Double click on the setup.exe file to run the setup and installation.
