Trying to scan, it give me a massage that i need to install or run HP software for this feature. I do not have an CD, please advise.

Download the most updated driver and software for your printer from HP:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=391182&
Select your operating system to get a list of available downloads.
Or click on the "Automatically check to see if the latest driver is installed correctly" link (for this you must have the printer connected to the computer and turned on).
Follow the installation procedures carefully.
You should begin the installation processe with your printer disconnected or turned off. Only connect the printer after the installation process is finished or when the installation wizard tells you to do so.

Installation hangs at 94%

I interupted the installation after about 36 hours and tried to install it again, but again it sat there for a very log time, about 12 hours. I then experimented with removing some processes (I don't know which ones) and also increased the priority levels on all the HP installation processes that were running. I also opened and closed the CD drive but nothing appeared to happen. Suddenly after a couple of minutes the installation program came to life and completed. But the automatic registration failed as the supposed web site were not found. At least the printer is working in color, but is seems the black ink cartridge is empty. Could this have anything to do with the troublesome installation?

Installation of a downloaded driver for Lexmark X1290 All-In_One

Hi,

You need to download the Vista compatible setup here from Lexmark,

http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:567:0:0&searchLang=en&os_group=Windows%20Vista&target=

Run the setup after it finishes downloading but ONLY connect the printer to the computer when the setup instructs you to do so.

Won"t print- will copy:

You need to reinstall your printer driver. If you have the installation cd,
1. unplug your printer from the computer,
2. install the driver from the cd,
3. plug your printer back into the computer
4. turn the printer on
5. print your document.

If you do not have the installation cd, try the printer manufacturer's web site for the print driver. Before installing the driver, disconnect the printer from the pc to make sure installation goes smoothly.

Once the driver is installed, when you plug the printer into the computer and power it on, the computer will find it and finish the installation process automatically.

This will not help the problem posted by guest. His problem is totally unrelated.
