I recently got a ViewSonic flat screen from a friend that had, up until I received it, worked great. However, when I hooked it up at my place the the power button would light up but the screen wouldn't turn on. After messing with the power hook-ups a bit the TV turned on, however, it wouldn't turn off. Finally I unplugged the TV to get it to turn off, but now when I plug it in the power button just blinks. I don't get audio or visual, just a blinking power button. Help!

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.
Hi there TonyMichael, my name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. It is my pleasure to assist you and provide you with information that can help program your remote to your television. The codes we have listed for a Viewsonic Tv to be programmed with a 4.4 IR/UHF Pro remote are: 566, 505, and 760. I have listed the steps below to assist with programming the
remote to your TV. If you have any other questions, let me know at
1.) Press and hold the clear TV button until all mode lights light up.
2.) Release and TV light will be blinking.
3.) Enter code and press #. The TV button should flash 3 times.
4.) Try functions (Volume, Power, etc..) and see if it is working.
5.) If no function, repeat steps 1-4 with another code.

Try holding the VOL + and VOL - buttons on the TV (not on the remote) down together. You should see a "unlocking buttons" message on screen. This might work. However, I tried it repeatedly, as told to by the Viewsonic "service" rep, and it didn't work for me. Viewsonic is ****, and so is its "service"!
I had a problem with mine and opened it up and found a power connector that had overheated and was not making good contact. This is a four prong white plastic connector and I think the power draw is high enough that it overheats if it isn't making great connection. I removed the connector and soldered the wires and solved problem
