Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I wish to know where to find extended information, specifications re. the ASUSTek Magnetite motherboard (? system board ?) in my HP desktop Slimline s7525a. Particularly I would like to know which '478' CPUs this board can accept, as I would like to upgrade from the current Intel Celeron M '420 @ 1.6 Mhz' cpu to, if possible, a 1.7 mhz or 1.8 mhz cpu. Thanks for any help you can provide; regards, Jon Frith.

The HP m7260n has an SPDIF connection on the motherboard. It's near the spot where the VGA port is connected to the board. I suspect that is what you need. The layout diagram for the P5LP-LE is available here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00864946 .

The specifications, including the motherboard information, for the m7260n are available here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00507225 .

I hope this helps.

You may need to contact HP directly.
This is your motherboard specification: Onyx2-GL8E
Motherboard manufacturer's name: ASUS PTGV-DM
CPU/Processor Socket: 479

Provide them with the part number: EP140-69002. If they unable to find the part try 5188-3647. HP may require you to pay for extended warranty and technical charges for technician. Standard warranty does not cover the fee for technician. This is because HP does not recommend users to replace the motherboard by themselves. If you insist of doing so then there would not be any extra charges.

You may contact HP at 800-474-6836 if you are from US, If you are from Australia or NZ call 1300 888 423. If dialing internationally: +61 3 8833 5000.

Please rate my solution.

MOTHER BOARD

You need to have a bootable disk that has the bios for that specific motherboard on it and you need to flash it. Why dont you go to the HP website and look up the model number, it will tell you specific hardware in your system and also you can download the bios, bios updating software and you should alos find information on how to properly update the bios. Never ever restart your computer during bios update, it will f23ck it up.
