Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have an 18 month old acer AT3220B TV - it has always had a rather loud humming noise in the background and also the volume adjusts itself?! Now I have a vertical black line down the RHS of the screen? A friend also bought the same TV at the same time as I did and within 3 months had the black line in the same place as mine is - he was told the TV was not worth fixing and was given a replacement TV. Mine is still under warranty. I am curious what causes this black line? the humming noise? and the crazy volume?

The TV reciever is capable of recieving an interference especially if your mobile cellphone is near the TV otherwise the black line which is shown on your screen is not normal, you have to sent your unit the service center.....

Background noise and music is so loud we can't understand the dialog

If the sound was disconnected, you would hear absolutely nothing at all. There is a problem with the sound signal itself, so connecting external speakers probably would not help at all. Electronic components have failed, which caused the sound problem issue.

LOUD BUZZING/HUMMING SOUND- CAN HEAR OVER AUDIO

have someone check speaker ground to the TV chassis. Your speakers are picking up reverb from the Video Signal.

Buzzing/humming noise that increases as you raise volume. So loud that you can not even watch tv

Hello snow1525,

You may have a torn speaker element. This is usually the cause of buzzing noise in the sound, also you may have a bad capacitor in your audio section. This is what I would suggest doing as a test open the front bottom panel of your TV and visually inspect the speakers for signs of ripping and or tearing in the speaker element. If the element or elements are torn it may be possible to repair it with rubber cement or rubber paste just coat the tear with the rubber cement to hole the torn edges together and allow it to dry for two days before testing the sound. If the speaker elements are not ripped then the problem may be a bad capacitor either in the audio section (power supply) or in the filter block (usually attached to the speakers to separate bass and treble signal to the speakers.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Constant humming/buzzing noise

I purchased a poloroid tv 3732 in may of 2005 from circuit city, after about 14 months the set began making a clacking sound and humming sound that gets so loud it is unbareable. I have to turn the set off. I have found out I am not the only one with this problem that has a poloroid tv. I had a technician at my home that told me there is a service warranty on these sets because the wrong part was used and the part needs to be replaced.

The noise from the TV is called 60 cycle hum and it is caused by a capacitor that is open, a test for ripple voltage will confirm this The noise from the VCR is more then likely common mode noise which would not be heard but for the bad capacitors in the TV. Simply put the common mode noise is being added to the 60 cycle hum. Now for how to fix this, if you have a background in electronics you can use a schematic, multimeter and an oscilloscope and Multimeter to find the bad capacitors, and the schematic to tell you what the voltages and %ripple should be. If you do not have a background in electronics, take the set to be repaired
