WMA 30 belt is shifting

Hi guys.
i put back the belt quite easily but as soon as I starts a wash cycle, at the first spin the belt goes half way on the big pulley.
it seems like the belt is not plumb but i have no more room on the drive thread to bring it plumb.
should i just get a new washing machine.
this thing as always made huge noise on fast spin. been left by previous owner!

Definately sounds like the bearings have gone causing the pully to be out of line with the motor, sounds like a good time to buy a new machine!!

Hi there!

It does rather sound like it's on it's last legs doesn't it...poor old thing.

It sounds like the drum bearings are worn. This will cause it to tip forward - and the main drive wheel will be at an angle.

Try lifting the drum up to check for play between inner wash drum and outer static part.

It could be the bearings are ok, but the bearing housing is worn.

By being noisy - I would expect bearings, dampers and motor to be on their way out.

I can price bearings for you if you tell me the model, and your nearest city.

My washing machine model samsung 7kg front loader won't fully spin. when washing it won't always go around and on the spin cycle it is stationary but makes a noise like whizzing when it goes around.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France- Frid morning 11:52.

It does literally sound as if the belt is slipping! This can happen with time. I would advise purchasing a replacement belt to be fitted by a confident/competent person- as you might well be!

The motor and belt should be easily visible- on most front loaders they 'stare you in the face'.
The motor's support bolts will require slackening, the old belt will probably come off very easily. The new belt is likely to be quite awkward/difficult to put on as it is a tight fit. Once on the belt requires to be re-tensioned by pulling the motor FIRMLY so that the belt is quite tight- if it is not already, that is.

I believe this should cure your problem.

Good luck,

John C

Kenmore 80 series heavy duty super capacity washer-new in 2002

HI colleen. thanks for the question. i know that you have been doing laundry for 30 yrs. i have been repairing for 45 years. they did not have daugs then. so the problem was not there. yes overloading is the cause . but if it wont go into the spin cycle . that could be the lid switch.

Thumping/knocking/rattles during wash agitation cycle

Mine is doing the same thing. I opened it up to see what was happening and it was the drive belt tension arm bumping around. Soon, the belt started slipping during the spin cycle. Now it won't spin and the belt starts to smolder from the friction of the drive motor. If you haven't checked your belt, that's a good place to start.

Extremely Load spin cycle

Mine was doing this and my husband tightened the huge bolt on the back of the drum. This is where the belt attaches. Evidently this bolt when loose can cause that outrageous sound.

Wash but no spin

1st of all is there a spin cancel buuton on this machine and has it been activated, or is there a spin speed selector knob and has it been turned inner drum easily turned by hand.if it is ok then belt tension could be suspect (tighten)im sure there is an out of load balance detection circuit on the main circuit board....also is it draining ok because it wont spin until it cant dectect low or no water prior to final spin.....also if it has a programme dial the select a spin programme on another section of selector dial.........hope this is of some help...
