Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines
This is due to a defective damper (Yes they have shocks just like cars do)
They are replacable items available from online spares suppliers. Here's a link for you - But may be another closer to you.
To access it, disconnect from supply, remove top by undoing screws at rear, then remove back.
The dampers are located right at the bottom at left and right.
May be easier to tip M/C forward to give easier access.
Check all springs are secure, and that foam rubbing strips are still in place (other causes of banging).
