Ya that indicates bad ram, Did you try just the 512 MB stick without having the other one in. If that doesn't work then your motherboard may not be compatible with that stick of RAM.
Good luck,

Ya that is most definetly the case especially if you know the ram is good.

the beep sound on system starting before booting starts refers no RAM in system, if you need to upgrade your RAM then go for DDR-SDRAM PC3200 200MHz 512MB 0r 1GB.

I just got a Intel D875PBZ Motherboard from ebay, im told its suposta work fine, i hook the entire thing up to my system, and it boots, all the fans start, my hard drive starts, i can open/close my disk...

You could try reseting it. unhook the cmos battery and put it back. also make sure that MB sits well in the casing without any shorting (grounding that is not supposed to).

Can a ddr pc2700 replace ddr 400 pc3200 are they compatible? I only get beeps when booted

Yes it can be compatible.PC3200 DDR 400 will underclock down to PC2700 in order to match the frequency of the lower end memory card. In order for your system to run it should have a matched memory frequencies. But memory compatibility depends sometimes to its brand name.

I hope this could help you..Thanks..:-)

Install DDR-DIMM PC3200 to MS-6367 MSI

That motherboard was made for PC2100 DDR266. A PC3200 DIMM *SHOULD* be backward compatible. Depending on the density of the PC3200 memory you might have problems. If you have not bought the memory yet I would go with the PC2100 for sure since the PC3200 will give you no speed gains at all and will be running at PC2100 speeds anyway.

If you already have the PC3200 memory then I would say just give it a shot. The worse case scenario is your machine will not boot up with the higher speed ram installed. Assuming you take all the normal hardware upgrade care and do not physically break anything you can test this memory with no harm to your motherboard.

Memory upgrade issue

Most ram has to go in pairs. Buy another stick of the 1GB, and it will run fine.

2x 1GB Memory doesn´t work

Don't try to put your 512MB-RAM, remove it and put only 1GB both with rearest slots to each other.

As per your board specification you can upgrade upto 3GB. but all three memo-stick must be of same size, same type and same frequency.

Thanks
