Your computer has memory problems. First check video. If video is working, you'll see an error message. If not, you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory. First check your SIMM's. Reseat them and reboot. If this doesn't do it, the memory chips may be bad. You can try switching the first and second banks memory chips. First banks are the memory banks that your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory in. You'll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first. If all your memory tests good, you probably need to buy another motherboard.

When I turn on computer the gateway logo pops up then goes off and then it just keeps doing it over and over. what do I do?

I would need more information to give you a better idea of what may be going on. But from the limited information given, i would say it is probably a driver issue. What more than likely happened was, your computer automatically installed a updated driver for a hardware device on your laptop. This happens often is usually a headache for most users but a fairly easy fix.

1. Turn off your laptop where it is not restarting anymore and is completely off.

2. Turn on your laptop, then immediately press the F8 key repeatedly several times a second. You will be prompted by a new black screen with several options.

3. Choose the option that says : repair your computer

4. The computer will start a diagnosis of why your computer will not POST. Which means why it will not make it to the operating system.

5. If you still have the same issue, Do steps 1 & 2 again, then instead of choosing the option: Repair your computer, Choose the option: Last known good configuration.

6. If you still have the same issue, Do steps 1 & 2 again, then Choose the option: Repair your computer, then choose the option restore or recovery/ image recovery.

WARNING! IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO A RECOVERY/ IMAGE RECOVERY, YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON THE LAPTOP!
INCLUDING PROGRAMS, PICTURES, VIDEOS, MUSIC, DOCUMENTS ETC.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU HAVE A PROFESSIONAL GET BACK-UP OF YOUR FILES AND THEY WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO RECOVER YOUR COMPUTER TO FACTORY CONDITION.

Goodluck!

When i try to turn it on it beeps 3-4 times and nothing appearsm on the screen. but i can hear it running

Beep codes will site specific problems. Say it beeps 3-4 times is not specific enough.
One suggestion is to remove the disk drive, memory and any other device. IF the system is OK it should boot to a BIOS screen. If it doesn't, you probably need to replace the computer.

If it boots to BIOS, one at a time replace each component and try to restart. That will identify the failing device.
Hope this information will help.
Your response is very much appreciated. Thank you for using Fixya...

When i turn on my dell 110 mini the light goes from white to orange and stays there the screen doeset boot or anything

Remove battery, open the access panel on the bottom carefully remove the ram sticks. Put them safely on a piece of paper so that a static charge doesn't ruin them, also touch something metal before you try and remove. If your computer doesn't beep at all when you power it back on your CPU, GPU, or MB are bad. If it beeps then there is still hope.

When i boot up my computer it beeps like 25 times and then it freezes it tries to boot windows

What brand the laptop is?
How many beeps are short and long and in what sequence?
Do you receive any error?
When the computer starts it checks its hardware and proceeds to boot the OS (windows). If it finds a hardware fault it will beep a code and stop there. The beep code may depend on the fault itself (video, memory, etc) and BIOS brand (Phoenix, American Megatrends, etc). You can try entering the BIOS by holding the or keys as soon as you turn it on for about 5 secs while it shows the first logo on screen. Then in BIOS you can see whats the brand of the BIOS is and with that info search for the beeping codes for that BIOS brand. That will say what kind of fault the unit is having. I hope this works. Im new in this FixYa so I dont know if you can reply me with the answers.

At start up, before windows loads, a consistent series of annoying beeping occurs....

If they're occurring right as you turn the computer on, it's your Power On Self Test (aka POST) letting you know. Since I can't be more specific, here's a synopsis of POST beeps:

One single beep followed by three, four, or five beeps -- System-board problems, possibly with DMA, CMOS setup chip, timer, or system bus. The computer usually won't boot when this is the problem.

Two beeps -- The POST numeric code is displayed on the monitor, usually nothing to be concerned about, but you might google the code on another computer and see what you get.

Two beeps followed be three, four, or five beeps -- First 64K of RAM has errors. Solution is to replace RAM.

Three beeps followed by three, four, or five beeps -- Keyboard controller failed or video controller failed. Either you won't be able to see or type with this error.

Four beeps followed by three, four, or five beeps -- Problem with serial or parallel ports, system timer, or time of day. Check your BIOS settings (usually F2 at start up) to make sure everything is correct.

Continuous beeps - problem with power supply. Probably won't do much with this error. At the very best, your computer will boot and run very, very slowly.

Hope that helped.

HP Pavillion dv 5000 notebook does not turn on

Depending upon your BIOS this error beep code could mean you have faulty RAM modules. Reseat your RAM modules, to make sure they make proper connection. If this doesn't work take them to your friendly computer shop and ask them to test them for you.
