The green light merely indicates that power is getting to your TV. The symptoms you describe point to internal power supply failure

Precision T7400 power supply sounding an alarm

Did you open the case on your computer? It may have an open case alarm which is a small switch typically located near the edge of the cover you removed. Make sure the case cover is completely installed, then see if the alarm goes off.

HELP! Olevia lt37hvs screen went blank. No Sound, panel buttons wont work. Backlight is only on on half of screen.

if you had audio i wold say its most likely the Tconn or its upper two connections to the Panel itself. But since you dont have any sound either I would assume its either the LVDS cable from the main board to the Tconn or the Main board itself as audio and video are produced on the main board, You can get replacement boards from www.tvrepairworld.com

Dell228wfp on start up pwr on is green screen

Either the cable is not connected to the proper port or the display-source is not configured properly. Here's what you can try.
  • Ensure that you have connected the VGA/DVI cable in the correct port. If you have an extended graphics card in your computer, use a DVI cable(Digital input) else the VGA would be the only option available.
  • If the cable seems to be plugged at the right place, press the first button from the left on the front panel of your monitor (Button 1 shown in the front view: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/E228WFP/En/ug/about.htm#Front_View), once. This toggles the digital mode to analog mode of your monitor, and vice versa.
  • If the first two steps do not work, its not an issue with the monitor. It could be a failing cable or a defective video card, or the system itself is not completing the POST.

Thanks,
Abhishek

The screen went dark and the power button is a steady yellow color instead of a steady green. a loud popping sound was heard before the button went yellow; before that it had been a flashing green button...

pseroy, If you visit YOUTUBE check out the longer video clips of LCD monitor disassembly and repair of the most common type of failure modes that ALL BRANDS have. Whenever posting to this site it would be nice if we could also get a little bit of history-- like age of unit and approx total hours of "on" time. My best guess is that the "switch-mode-power-supply" has finally bit the dirt. Popping sound was the "electrolytic filter capacitors" venting to the atmosphere because they couldn't stand the heat in the unit any longer. In any case a tech should evaluate unit or if it is >3-4 yrs old look to trade in for new. also check web for swollen capacitors in lcd monitors and "cold-cathode-fluorescent-tubes" and their power source which is called an INVERTER circuit. Here is quick and dirty lesson. Monitor SMPS makes dc voltage for inverter (electronic ballast) circuit which makes 800-1200 volts ac to light up the CCFT's. You are dealing with something similar to the new screw-in curlie-Q CFL lightbulbs only their "ballasts" are dirt cheap and are called "converters" AC to AC. Hope this info was of some help. The display is in safe mode and you will need to reset the display to get the display out of the safe mode. There are 2 different model revisions. Please choose the method that will match your revision. Depending on the revision of the monitor, one of the following 2 methods should reset it to a normal state. This reset generally requires both hands and it is sometimes easier with another person.

If the serial number begins with an A and/or your power button on the far right (5th button from left):
Method #1
1. Unplug the VGA cable.
2. Remove the power cable from the back of the monitor.
3. Counting the buttons on the front of the panel from left to right as 1 – 5, hold the buttons 2 and 3 down at the same time (see picture above) and while continuing to hold the buttons, plug the power cable back in.
4. Keep holding the buttons for 5 seconds after the power has been plugged in and then let go. The green light should be steady when you release the buttons.
5. If the procedure worked, the green light will go to amber and you should see a "No Signal" message on the screen for a few seconds.
Method #2
4. Keep holding the buttons until the 4th green LED blink; then, let go. The green light should be steady when you release the buttons.
5. If the procedure worked, the green light will go to amber and you should see a "No Signal" message on the screen for a few seconds.

If the serial number begins with a B and/or your power button is in the middle (3rd button from left):
Method #1
1. Unplug the VGA cable.
2. Remove the power cable from the back of the monitor.
3. Counting the buttons on the front of the panel from left to right as 1 – 5, hold the buttons 2 and 4 down at the same time (see attached picture) and while continuing to hold the buttons, plug the power cable back in.4. Keep holding the buttons for 5 seconds after the power has been plugged in and then let go. The green light should be steady when you release the buttons.
5. If the procedure worked, the green light will go to amber and you should see a "No Signal" message on the screen for a few seconds.
