Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi again, u helped me recently re: reinstalling xp and being unable to find my adapter. I went and got the unknown device identifier, and I even bought My Drivers so I could let the program install it.Even after registering the program when I go to use the installation wizard, the box pops up and wants me to enter my reg code. Then it says wrong code. Rather than continue, can u just tell me if there is some secret to installing the drivers? I see the Realtek card now but I still don't get any wireless options. I cannot figure out how nto configure a network connection? Feeling stupid, I have never had this much trouble w/ a simple task. Please help. Thanks, Monika

Hi,, actually you didnt need to buy anything ..

ok here is a walk through that will get you up an running and it can be applied for any drivers ok :)

1.) download and install unknown device identifier (FREE)

http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html

2.) run it and you should see a screen like this

http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.gif

3.) you looking for what ever device you want, the missing drivers is highlighted by yellow

once you see the one or one's you need click the plus next to it and it will give you some more info

for example SIS Silicion integrated AC97 Audio codec is the audio driver missing

google SIS AC 97 Audio codec deiver download
and you will be met with a download page for the driver,, download and install it (if it ask for money SKIP it all drivers re free and you can get them on the manufactures page)

an alternative method

1.) open the side of your pc
2.) look at the make and model of the motherboard or what ever device you want drivers for
e.g Biostar k97m
google Biostar K97m Driver download
you will go to the Biostar homepage
select support / drivers download
select mainboad
select model mainboad K97M
and you will be presented with a list of drivers
download and install the ones you want..

See two easy methods and it can apply for any device you need drivers for..

Good luck and let me know what happens..

The network adapters dont even show up in the device manager, where can i download the drivers?

  1. If the network adapter isn't showing up in the Device Manager, even as an Unknown Device, then the Network adapter may be faulty.
  2. Try removing the Network adapter, restart the computer, then shut down the computer after the restart.
  3. Now reinstall the adapter with the computer off.
  4. Once the Network card is reinstalled, turn the computer on. Check the Device Manager for your Network Adapter.
  5. The computer should detect the card and ask you for drivers. If it doesn't, that means it either automatically found the drivers and installed them, or your network adapter has died.

My device is no loner recognized

Go into the device manager, click on View > Show hidden devices. Look under unknown devices or under USB for unknown devices. Also check under the section relating to the type of usb device. If you find an Unknown Device, or a device with an exclamation point, right click on it and uninstall. Disconnect the device, reboot and install the drivers/software for it if any. If it's still not working check it in another computer. If you cannot get it to work in either machine, the usb plug of the device is probably damaged. Possibly a loose solder joint. Have the manufacturer send you a new one if its still under warranty.
