Question about Sharp R-1502 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

The starter button on my Sharp microwave R-1502 is not working properly. You have to jiggle it around so it will start. I can order replacement buttons for this model but I would like to know if I have to remove the whole oven from the wall or is there a way to just take off the piece covering the buttons?

No need to remove the oven from the wall since the auto touch panel is located behind the door of the oven

My Sharp R-1502 over the range microwave doesn't give any heat at all. What parts do you think I will buy to solve the problem?

There is to many parts that can cause no heat, and some are very expensive, plus the voltages in the microwave oven are lethal. I strongly recommend a professional because of safety, and he has the tools and test equipment to get to the bottom of the problem.

How to uninstall a sharp 1502 microwave. We've removed two bolts on top through the cabinet and four screws in back under the mounting bracket. The microwave is still stuck in the back on the left.

We have the owner's manual at our site here, and it contains the installation instructions.

I've had mine for approx. 5 years and this year the buttons started to not work. I could only use the One Minute Plus button. This morning nothing worked! I unplugged it, replugged it and still nothing....

On these models, each of the four plastic buttons on the right side of the control panel runs a hidden pad on the membrane keypad.

The other pads on the keypad are fully exposed once you open the door and you just press them directly to operate them.

These plastic button assemblies have been upgraded due to weakness and breakage.

Most often it's the bottom two buttons (Stop/Clear and Start/Minute Plus) that fail.

You can order the button assemblies here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

The service manuals you need to refer to are here and here.

Hi, I'm looking for the right cover for a sharp R-1501. It covers the 4 buttons on the right and is plastic. I'm also looking for the door button and spring. These are white in color. Thanks.

A lot of times these would warp from heat.

All of those parts once came as an assembly, which was formerly part number FPNLCB373MRK0 and then FPNLCB431MRK0 ("zero" on the end, not "oh") but both are now no longer available from suppliers.

If you think you can get by with just a door open button and spring, the part numbers for them are JBTN-B143MRF0A and MSPRTA050WRE0, respectively.

You can order them from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Otherwise, the oven would have to be retired.

R-209BK Sharp Microwave buttons inoperable

I had this problem too:
it turns out that it (apparently) just needed some 'warm-up' time!

After being plugged in for about 15 to 30 minutes,
the buttons suddenly "came to life"...

Note that when it's flashing 88:88 you are supposed to _start_ with the 'Stop/Clear' button. After that, set the clock (press "Clock", enter the time with the number pad, then press Clock again).

Hope that helps.

Plastic start button broken and start feature on board failed

You have to be sure the door switch connector is plugged into the board or it will not Start.

We have the service / repair manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here to help you.

It will give you safety info, step by step help in disassembly, troubleshooting tips, and part numbers.

You will need the
free Acrobat Reader to view or print it in case you don't have it already.

You can order a new and improved select button assembly here.

Other parts can be ordered from Encompass (formerly Tritronics). Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.
