My dell labtop is black screen when i start normal windows

Not sure of the legality of this, but you could try to download a dell oem vista DVD, burn it, and be up and running in no time. I do this all the time. I assume its legal because I am still using the license that the computer came with.

try and reinstall the video drivvers

You must have turned off the Welcome screen. go into Dell help and search for Welcome and have it "Default".

This sounds like a hard drive failure. You can press f8 to enter safe mode with networking during post. If it boots to windows,then go online & download the video driver from nvidia,install it & reboot. If that doesn't work,try re-formatting. If it won't do that then try a new hard drive. I have the software needed to test the hard drive,but it's for commercial use only. This is the back yard method.

Power off.
When you power back on hit F8 and from menu select safe mode.
Let windows come up then shut down and try to power back on.

Usually this happens when the vista boot loader fails. During boot up, keep tapping F8 and then select Disable Automatic Restart... and get the stop error code which usually starts with 0x

try to reinstall the OS.. ths will solve the problem...

usually does this when it has failed to shut down properly, you should get an option to start windows normally or try repair.

If you have the cd that came with your computer, restore your computer
or can go :

Start - Accessories - System Tools - Click on : System Restore

1st will be a screen will say : Welcome to System Restore...same screen will says : To Begin : Click Restore My computer to an earlier time - Click next -

2nd screen --- will show a calendar - Go all the way back on the calendar ( before ) you lost your windows you said it has been tore down for over a year ...so go back to 1 year before u lost your windows.

Click Next ....Follow instruction ... When finsihed ..........RE- BOOT your computer .
