Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hi, I have a SONY 51" tv KP-51HW40 with convergence problem. I would like to replace them my self. I have removed the board out so I can take the STK IC out. Can you give me some expert tips on what to do better to avoid any troublem. Also, do I need to check any burnt resistors? Or just replace the STK 1st. If its working, than don't have to worry about the resistors. Please let me know if you need any pictures. Thank you so much for your time. Sincerely Wing

Check the 4.7 ohm 1/2 watt resistors as well as the yellow pico fuses. your ICs are STK392-560 you can get new replacement ICs and resistors at the following link and they include free instalation instructions as well as free on line tech support. Heres the link.

My sony projection tv has bouble image. can i

Well repair of TV depends on your own skills and if you have any experience of electronics stuff repair then it would not be difficult. This kind of repair requires good parts soldering in PCB expertise.

Your Sony KP-51HW40 seems have problem with convergence out ICs (two ICs) that would be replaced. Both ICs STK392-560 are located on D Board and available in Part Store.
Thanks.

Screen shakes / jumps vertically on my Sony KP-51HW40

The jitter is called a vertical sync problem. The problem is on the "A" board. It can be replaced or rebuilt but will be quite expensive to service.
