Question about Square D Trilliant 100 Amp Circuit Breaker Main

1 Answer

I have a trilliant square D breaker box and I need to change a breaker in it. My electrician told me that once I had everything shut off and disconnected that it should pop right out but I can't get the breaker removed. I know nothing about this stuff and am wondering if there is a special tool I need to remove it or if it's a bolt in.

If it's a bolt-on you will see the bolts on the outside of it. if it's a plug-in, sometimes they can be tricky to remove. you wanna pull out towards the inside of the breaker then slide the breaker towards the center and it will pop out then. definately don't need a special tool.

SOURCE: My double pole 30 amp sqaure D breaker gets a little warm...

You need to check the amp draw on the breaker that is warm. The smell you notice is not normal. Use a temp gun to test the breakers for higher that normal reading. High temp is caused by high current or loose connection.

Breaker Brokers Inc has a 50 amp. Call Dan at 1-800-553-2431. I would not recommend using any other size breaker. It can be dangerous.

I just replaced 2 baseboard heaters in my home. 1 1000watt and 1 2500 watt , both are on the 1 breaker, I realized today that I had no heat and checked my breakers and a breaker had tripped out for the new...

Your new baseboard heaters are pulling more amps than your old ones.
Did you use the same wattage as the old heaters ?
What amp is the breaker ?
IF the heaters are 240volt then your load is ~15amps. Your breaker should be 20amps.

Why is my main breaker switch getting hot tot he touch?

Sounds like you're pulling to much current (amps), thats whats causing it to heat up. If its too hot to hold your hand to you have a serious prolem!! The breaker should be tripping and if its not it can cause damage to the insulation on the wire, and could cause a fire or other problems... You can get a clamp on amp meter to check the amperage or call an eletrician ASAP

My breaker is conected to a hot tub. tub was working fine in auto mode. Turned on jets and breaker tripped. will not reset can you help me

I am assuming this is a GFCI circuit breaker? If it is it will have a "test" button on the breaker. When you say "jets" i'm assuming you mean when you turn on the blower to make the air bubbles? It could be you have a problem with the blower motor. When you start the blower, it trips the breaker. Be sure the blower is in off position when you reset the breaker. The most common fault though on a spa/hot tub is with the heater. If the element goes bad, and current flows to ground, it will trip the GFCI breaker. Again try and turn all functions off. Reset breaker, and then turn on one at a time till the breaker trips. First the pump, then the heat, then the blower.

Breaker box clicks on then air conditioner still running but warm

When you say breaker box clicks and then warm air, are you referring to the actual breaker switch in your power panel, or clicking at your ceiling assembly? When the breaker trips, the air conditioner should shut down completely, is that what happens? The compressor kicking in and out could cause circuit breaker to trip. Did the electrician record incoming voltage supply, and what was it ? 115 volts?

About 2 months ago my Main Breaker in my 100 amp service box began tripping when certain large appliances were running the same time my central air unit was running. Nothing has changed as far as...

Well breakers can weaken overtime if they are overloaded. A breaker is meant to have 80% of its capacity used, for example a 20 amp breaker should have only 16 amps of current on it. If something was changed six years ago that has loaded that breaker to its max it may have not affected it until now. Another thing would to be absolutely sure that everything running in your house is not exceeding 100 amps. Many houses these days have 200 amp panels because of how much amperage added appliance and the like will use. A licensed electrician will be needed to swap out the breaker, which will be a little expensive but shouldn't be outrageous as he will not be swapping out the whole panel, just the main breaker.

Replace 200 amp breaker

If this is the Service Disconnect Switch or Main Switch for the panel, this job should probably left for an electrician to perform, as power should be shut off at the meter socket or at the roadside first. If this is not done, the work will be "hot".

Unlike most circuit breakers in electrical panels, Service Disconnect Switches and Main Switches have the power brought to the panel by entering terminal screws. Shutting the Main or Service Disconnect breaker off prevents the flow of current *into* the panel and other circuit breakers. The large wires that are connected to the terminal screws are LIVE, and will remain so until shut off *upstream*.

Working in a panel with two large diameter cables that do not move easily is a hazard and should not be done unless you are very familiar with this work - and of course, have shut the power off.

Please, reconsider doing this work yourself.

There is loose connection somewhere.Might want to look at the wires coming to the panel.
