It is not uncommon for the network adapter to become faulty and stop working. Since you've checked the cable and it is still listed in device manager as working properly, I would add a PCI ethernet port to your computer, then disable the faulty one in device manager. They can be picked up for around $15 locally and even cheaper on the web.

Change the fixed IP address of your machine to DHCP.

If you are running Windows then

- Click Start, Control Panels
- Depending on which version of Windows you are using, look for Network and Internet
- Right click the connection you wat to change (in your case, choose the ethernet)
- Click the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click either Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
- To obtain IP settings automatically, click Obtain an IP address automatically, and then click OK.

That should resolve your problem

With firewall disabled, try setting the ipv4 properties of your connection as follows: ip address:
obtain an ip address automatically.
DNS
Obtain DNS server address automatically
since this is a peer to peer network you have to understand that the two machines are independent of each other so if this is not the settings on your first machine, please duplicate the exact settings of the first machine on the second machine. The hub might be distributing specific requirements from the modem. Hope this helps

It is possible that the Xbox will be unable to pick up the wireless signal being transmitted by your gateway because the signal is too weak.

The connection speed of your internet has nothing to do with the strength of the signal. The best way to test this would be to try to connect to your wireless internet on a laptop while sitting near the xbox. If you cannot, you will know that the signal isn't powerful enough to reach that location.

There are three common options to amplifying your signal if necessary.

1) Purchase a High-gain antenna for your wireless gateway
2) Purchase a wireless repeater
3) Purchase a new router/gateway with a longer range capability. A "Wireless N" enabled router would be optimal for this application.

Hello, Got a D-Link 1005D 5x100 Im having 2 computeres atm, but i cna only get one to work. When i plug the internet cables from the computers to the D-link router, only one can work, please...

Your D-Link is a "switch", not a "router".
So, every computer that you connect will require a _UNIQUE_ IP-address.

However, your account with your Internet Service Provider is only granting you *ONE* IP-address.
Upgrade your account to pay a few dollars more per month, to get additional IP-address(es).

Buy a D-Link Router, for under $50, and connect both computers to the 'LAN' ports,
and connect the 'WAN' port to your cable-modem (or DSL-modem).
