Question about Miele Vacuums

Open Question

There is something stuck in the handle of my Miele vacuum. I unscrewed all the screws hoping that I could remove the hard plastic handle from the hose. I was only able to flip up a piece of plastic where the switch is. Should I pull harder to pry the plastic apart? I was afraid I'd break something. Thank You, Chrissy

SOURCE: How do you take the DC11 apart?

Unplug the unit from any power first.

To get the unit apart you have to Carefully pry off the wheels from both sides of the unit to allow access to another 4 torx screws. Use a longer flat blade screw driver and insert this between the wheel and the body of the vacum as close to the wheels center of rotation as much as possible. This should allow you open the clamshell like case. Once inside you can test the power switch and connections. My switch tested good but there is a problem with the power cord that I am trying to determine.

I am trying to replace the cord but the cord reel assembly and cord seems tighly integrated so I may end up buying the replacement power cord assembly if it is available for purchase to the general public and not only service centers. I will try the plug into the wall assembly first as it is easier to replace.

Good luck

SOURCE: my vacuum hose has split very close to the handle-

Do Not Cut the hose!
It has wiring inside to control the vac and power head. This is a swivel handled hose with both low and high voltage contacts in it. The same wiring which gives the hose its ribbing, is conducting current for two applications,
If your hose has a switched handle, a very experienced, trained AERUS Electrolux tech will a have a tough time doing this job and will likely refuse as it is not recommended per company policy.
You can purchase a shrink wrap tube which will prolong the life of the hose if it has not collapsed, however this is a short term fix.
I could walk you through this as I have done it before ...Unfortunately, even if you were able to dismantle the hose successfully you would not be able to purchase the wire terminals which you would cut off the end when shortening . Sorry its a proprietary part.

The hose is blocked, how do I get it off to unblock?

Hey, this is Tristan with Crucial Vacuum,

In order to remove the hose to start unblocking it, do the following:
1. Put the vacuum in the upright position
2. Press the release button of the telescopic wand and remove the handle from the hose
3. Push the hose elbow downward into the catch hooks.
4. Undo the suction hose by twisting it at the elbow.

If the blockage isn't in this location you can do the following to search further for blockages:

5. Open the service flap on the back of the vacuum.
6. Unscrew the screws and pull the cover free.

Below I have attached a link to the users manual for the Miele S7210. You should refer to page 30 to view the diagrams pertaining to my suggestions.

Milie won,t stay upright

If your miele is laying all the way down like mine is and will not stand upright..look for a dark gray corrugated plastic part where the handle bends at the base. This is above the silver holed plastic filter holder. This may be stuck. I just pulled mine out and then I was able to stand it upright again. I wasn't able to put it back in but I think it is there just to cover up the inside workings of the vacuum. So I left it out.

Clogged miele hose

If you can safely remove the whole hose the best way is with compressed air or I sometimes use a long flexible wire to pull it out.

The hard plastic on the ends is pressed on and not intended to be removed, careful with that.

I need to remove the handle from the S7000 series vacuum cleaner to send it back to Miele as it doesn't work - how do I do that?

First, remove the upholstery cleaning attachment from the back of the vacuum. Next, move the cord to the side. In the recessed slot where the upholstery brush fits, you will see a small hole. Push a small, regular screwdriver in to the hole. At the same time, pull up on the Miele handle to disengage and to remove the handle from the body of the vacuum cleaner.

I did this by placing the vacuum on the floor with the handle down and pressing the screw driver against the floor with the blade of the screwdriver going into the hole. I held the vacuum with my feet and pulled firmly on the handle.

Our vacuum (a miele S718) has cut out.

Probably WAY too late to help you now, but may be of assistance to others (I repair appliances): Several times, I've had Miele Vacs which show the red light, but the motor never powers up. If the vac was working perfectly before, 98% it will be a bad solder joint on the Motor pcb. Although it varies per vac: Remove the bag & 4 screws around.
Unclip & remove lid (flex off pivots), then remove centre screw. Lift off control panel. Remove all other screws under the control panel area.
Lift out motor & unscrew motor pcb. Turn over & inspect for any black joints - repair as ness. Reassemble in reverse order - note: difficult to locate top cover back on if lid wasn't removed, as lid power connection can interfere. Hope this helps...

Power cord broken inside s251i miele How do i open the s251i ????

HOW TO OPEN MIELE 251 VACCUUM: 1-Unplug from wall and disconnect power cord 2-Remove black switch panel at back of top panel: A-Use Phillips screwdriver, remove two silver screws visible between back of hinged top door and front of black switch panel
B-Push back of the panel down while pushing it forward (towards front of machine). There are two plastic notches and clips which are tightly fit together that you need to separate.
Once it releases, push it a bit more towards the front of the machine and lift off panel. It has wires connecting it to the main body so it will not remove completely.
C-Be careful not to lose the springs that simply sit inside of two plastic channels, one under each of the two switches. These are required for your witches to operate properly.
3-Locate screw at bottom of deep rectangular hole now revealed (under former location of black switch panels). Unscrew using Phillips screwdriver. 4-Open hinged top panel. Locate two silver screws, one on each side of main housing. Unscrew using Phillips screwdriver. 5-This will let you lift off the whole top assembly, door and main housing, revealing the plastic chassis and the motor unit within.
You now have access to the motor, wiring connector harnesses, circuit board and the cord reel.
