Ok, paper jam problem seems to corrected (I think!) but now when i try to print a document printer won't engage. So i turn it off and turn back on and it will only print a test page.

This error is related to Paper Jam, maybe you couldn't see the actual paper jam or it could be a fake paper jam.

First follow the instructions here (Click Here), these are the instructions recommended by HP, but I would also add my own.
After you are done with the HP Recommendations, remove all the cartridges, unplug all the cables, open the front access door and the back door. Clean the passage and the cartridge compartments with a Blower or a Vacuum cleaner. If there's any invisible or hidden pieces of paper, then this will clear them. You may also need to power on the printer once while using the Blower/V-cleaner and let the carriage move so that everything will be cleared.

Once you are done with the cleaning, reinstall/plug all the components and turn on the printer and verify that the error is gone, let me know if the problem persists.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Would you mind if I ask you to continue tomorrow? I am too tired today and I can't concentrate on anything... If that's ok, please let me know. Thanks.

The lights continually flashing indicate a paper jam or the printer being out of ink. Check/clear any paper jam and verify the ink cartidge is set correctly.

Scanner won't make copies

Maybe this will hellp others with this, if it's an output issue vs. scnaning, or those w/related Copy problem. I could not Copy without the message about Incorrect Paper Size. I finally found this link which solved that problem AND one of the paper feeding in poorly and at an angle which preceded the error msg by a week, resulted in angled prints on the page.

You may have an issue with your "spot sensor" and it needs to be calibrated.

Instructions:

1. Press * and # at the same time, and then release both keys.
The display reads "Enter Special Key Combo".
2. Press 3, 2, and then 9, releasing each key before pressing the next.
The display window should read "Service: R0622M" with a revision number.
3. Press the right arrow button once.
The display should read "System Configuration".
4. Press Enter or OK.
5. You will be prompted to enter serial number. Do not enter any information
on the unit.
Press the right arrow button until "media sense calibration" appears in the
display.
6. Load Paper into the unit and then press Enter or OK.
7. Media Sense Calibration process will take place.

Won't print - just flashes it's lights at me!

I tried what phrek said (" Pressing the flashing buttons simultaneously, evokes the printer to spit out an internal diagnostic page ..."), but after the diagnostic page printed out the printer worked fine again.

Thanks for the help, and hopefully things work out for the rest of you as well.

Won't print

I've been helping someone with a similar problem on a Deskjet (but it might be a different model and connected via a print server (on his router).). Did you reboot the printer or just the computer? Also did you close all of the printer sections after searching for the paper jam? In my experience the continued flashing lights indicate the document is still in the queue. The solution I've found for other Deskjets is to unplug the USB cable from both the printer and computer (or print server) and wait five minutes. Plug in the USB cables and go back to the computer. For Microsoft Windows OS (2000 and up), in the command prompt window, type "net stop spooler" <enter> without the quotes. When the command prompt returns, type "net start spooler" <enter> (again lose the quotes). Alternately you can use the Run command and type "Net Stop Spooler" <enter> (again without the quotes), reboot the computer, then wait a while.

These directions were adapted from Tutor-tips http://www.computer-2tr.com/tips/05/20050815.html

Paper light constantly flashes

That flashing paper light indicates a few things on these, most often it is related to paper not in tray or jammed/not picked up but I see in you case it isn't.......

Your light can also be indicating that the page size sent, it doesn't think it has so it is asking you to feed correct size paper as per document that you sent it, into the little slot at the front called the bypass...(change paper size setting in tray or document page size).

You can test if above is problem by unplugging USB turn off/on machine should come to green, press go button 5times supersuper fast, test print should print shortly.

If printing labels, card, transparencys or have setting as this paper type machine will default to manual pass (cause it needs to be feed those sort of things, straight, not from cassette.

It can also mean memory full or print overload, (pressing go button will start print of remaing data) Doc too complex

or Door open front or back

or even Clean Carona (blue slidy thing on drum)

Drum light fix below

Open cover

Press and hold down Go button for about 4 seconds until all the LEDs light up. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the Go button

Close cover

Paper jam?

Check Paper light flashes but there isn't a paper related problem The check paper light may also flash if there are other problems. Verify the following conditions:
  • Verify that the print cartridge door is closed.
  • The print carriage may be jammed, follow these steps to correct the problem:
    1. Open the print cartridge access door. If the print carriage can move, it should move to center. If the print carriage stays all the way left, unplug the power cord and then plug it back in. This will reset the unit and may allow the print carriage to move from the left.
    2. Disconnect the power cord from the all-in-one.
    3. Remove both print cartridges.
    4. Move the print carriage left and right slightly to verify that the print carriage will move freely. If the print carriage will not move freely, check for obstructions.
    5. Close the print cartridge access door.
    6. Plug the power cord back in.
    7. After the all-in-one initializes, the print cartridge light will flash. Open the access door and install the print cartridges.
    8. Close the print cartridge access door. If the problem returns, remove the print cartridges and wipe the electrical contacts before reinstalling them.
  • Try to make a copy. If the all-in-one pulls in paper but cannot make a copy, there may be a problem with the scanner mechanism. Contact HP for assistance.
