Question about KitchenAid 24 in. KUDI01FLSS Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

Hi I have the Kitchenaid dishwasher KUDIO1FLSS2 and all the buttons work except the two most important ones, the heavy and normal cycle. I had a service person out about 6 mo. ago and he said the control panel was about to go bad and replaced a fuse. He ended up coming again a week later and replacing the fuse with a stronger fuse. Now it's acting up again and I'm sick of hand washing dishes and don't feel like handing over another $300 or more if I can do it myself or maybe I just need to buy a new one?

gagaweaver, couple of things you want to check here. Check the upper spray arm for any clogged holes or cracks along the edges. Position it in the 12:00 position and run the dishwasher for a little, open the door and verify that it has rotated. Make sure the water entering the dishwasher is min. 120 degrees, use a thermometer. Makes sure that there is no large pans or dishes blocking the upper spray arm from spraying onto the inner door. If all that checks out. You will have to remove the lower spray arm, filter cover and chopper cover to make sure the chopper screen is not coated or plugged up. If it is, it will prevent a good flow of water to the upper spray arm. Catriver..post back.

The keypad interface is bad, you would need to replace that and then it should work great. Let me know if you run into any trouble or have further questions and I would be glad to help.

good luck

Top rack not getting clean on Normal Cycle

Empty the dishwasher. Look at the 2 rotating plastic arms in it (like 2 bladed windmills) spin each one, do they move freely without hitting anything? If so remove the top one (its a press on fit) the look inside it with a torch, is there any debris or dirt inside it blocking it? Water has to flow inside it or it will not spin, and top rack gets no water spray.

How do you reset a KitchenAid dishwasher model: KUDE70FXSS4?

Press High Temp Scrub and Dry Heat option buttons in quick succession one after the other for about 6 sec until all the lights come on. Then press Cancel button. This should reset the dishwasher. Press equivalent buttons on the panel if the actual ones above are not there.
Make sure the dishwasher detergent dispenser lid is shut and the dishwasher door is shut before you start the above reset sequence.

How to reset a Kenmore 668.1687582 dishwasher

Yes, depending on the model, and the buttons that your dishwasher has, try the following key sequences:
Heated Dry - Normal - Heated Dry - Normal; or
High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry; or
Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry; or
High Temp Wash, Heated Dry, High Temp Wash, Heated Dry). You will know that you have entered the diagnostic cycle when all the lights light up for a few seconds.
On some of the newer Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid dishwashers, you start the diagnostic cycle by rapidly pressing the 3 left-most keys in the following sequence: 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3.

The dishwasher runs for 1 1/2 hours on the wash cycle.

Hi,

This may sound strange but that is a normal cycle time for today's dishwashers. They use much less water and the water is 'recycled' within the filtration system in the pump.

By reusing and filtering this water they save on heating energy and water consumption. The motors are not as powerful so they use less power even when running longer. Many machines will alternate the wash between the upper and lower arms, this type uses much less water and energy but again the trade off is long cycle times.

If you were to select a heavy or pots and pan cycle with hi temperature wash and a sani rinse your times can be up to 4 hours in some machines today.

The reason behind these savings are mostly due to the energy standards that the appliance manufactures have to abide by today.

I know this may not have been what you wanted to hear but it is how they work today.

My diswasher won't work

Kitchenaids have a diagnostic service mode ... but each model can be different on how to activate. The mode is started by sequentially pressing a number of the control buttons repetitively. The particular sequence is usually listed in service technician paperwork within the dishwasher behind the low kick plate in front of the dishwasher.
Or web search "Kitchenaid KUDPO1FL S7 diagnostics" which may help you understand this whole process
Good luck on your troubleshooting
