Question about Mitsubishi VS-50705 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Liquid OK, I cant find any signs of any drippage from above, looks like this is from somewhere on the signal board, on the side where all the external connections are. The liquid is on the bottom side of the ant. input little box, thats where its the thickest but there is not any on the top side. ( The silver ant. input box is elevated from the circuit board. I cant find any signs of where else it could be from?

It could be from one of the capacitors in the tuner itself. Look at the board closely inside the tuner and see if you notice any of the capacitor leads being corroded with a gree substance on the leads that would indicate the capacitor is leaking.

Help TV Went dead.

A older set with a number of issues. If unplugged and rear cover removed there is a metal channel that runs left to right above the boards---look for any signs of white residue in it or from the tubes above it----if see ANY signs of clear liquid do not touch it.

You are looking for any traces of Glycol.

WS-65819 Shuts off

Yes, remove front speaker grill (pulls off) and inspection plate behind it.

There are 3 large circuit boards as you look from the front---signal to the right, power to the left and Deflection (vertical and Horizontal) in the middle.

What you want to look for is on the middle board any sign of GLYCOL which sometimes leaks from the picture tubes above it.

It is a clear liquid and even tiny amounts can short or stop the board from working; most damage should be in first 3 inches from front of the board----if you find any DO NOT TOUCH IT as it is toxic.

Glycol damage is not uncommon and the first thing you want to look for.

Hi i cant get the at @ sign on the acer iconia tab w500

Hi, On most key boards the shift key and the 2 button make the @ sign. Look where the @ sign is on your key board. You might be looking for a new key board. What do you have above the 2 ?
In the Fonts you maybe able to change to the @ sign. Good luck.

All my gauges and even speedometer and odometer have stopped working on my 2001 crown victoria. Any advise? The kick panel above the brake pedal is loose and every now and then if I push up on the loose...

If you can kick the panel and it work, then there is a loose connection somewhere. Start at the fuse block and make sure you have a good connection there, then move forward.

I have spilled just a spoon of water on my laptop, after it the keyboard is not working a t all, i cant even log into bios. i have sony vaio vgn z series laptop, i tried to delete the driver, and when...

When this happens, you should fully disassemble the laptop & thoroughly inspect its inside. Look for any traces of liquid on the circuit boards & on other components. On circuit boards, liquid damage appears in the form of whitish traces. These needs to be wiped off. This can be done using a tooth brush moistened with few drops of hand sanitizer liquid.
Check all internal connectors & make sure that no liquid seeped into them. Dry them if needed.
When you are done, re-assemble back the laptop.
If the liquid fell on the keyboard & you found out that the keyboard is no longer working, then you will have to replace the keyboard.

My unit is not powering on. I plugged in an 18v power supply into the unit and it was on for a few seconds and then shut off. Did I burn out the unit?

thirdjonesbo,
This solution will be rather lengthy. I apologize for the length of it in advance, but feel it is necessary to explain my possible solution.
Please bear with me.

Inside the external harddrive case is a SATA harddrive.
The SATA harddrive plugs into a small circuit board, via an interface connector, OR small cables.

[Interface Connector.
On the back of a SATA harddrive are metal pins that stick out. The ones to be concerned with are the 15 pins for Power, and the 7 pins for Data. The 15 pins for Power are grouped together, as well as the 7 pins for Data. An Interface is simply a connector that has socket holes in it, that the pins stick into.

If you have never seen a harddrive, much less a SATA harddrive, the above statement will be as clear as mud.
Let me show you the pins on the back of a SATA harddrive, to help clarify this,

http://www.interfacebus.com/SATA_Pinout.html

Under the heading - Serial ATA Signal Assignments, view the illustration.

On the right you will see the Power Cable, headed towards the Power Connector. If you could enlarge this illustration you would see there are 15 pins.

On the left you will see the Signal Cable, headed towards the Signal Connector. Again, if you could enlarge this illustration you would see there are 7 pins. Signal is also Data.

(Data = Information. Information is processed back, and forth to the harddrive through this cable)

An Interface connector is rectangular in shape, and has socket holes to fit these pins.

Or, as stated above, it may have two small cables as shown in the illustration, and they plug into the Power, and Signal (Data) pins.

Either an Interface connector, or two small cables lead up to a small circuit board.

IT MAY BE that you are fortunate, and the circuit board bore the brunt of the overload of voltage, and did not get to the SATA harddrive inside.

My suggestion would be what I would do myself. This suggestion may not be what you would do.

I would open the external harddrive case, and look for obvious signs of electronics failure on the circuit board, and on the harddrive itself.
The harddrive also has a circuit board. It's on the bottom of the harddrive.

If you see obvious signs of damage such as,
1.Black marks on any of the various electronic components, or 2.Electronic components that have melted, swelled up, or look burned,
on the circuit board of the SATA harddrive, then you may want to stop here.

The 'cure' may be more costly, than the information you have saved on this external harddrive.

But,
IF, the circuit board of the SATA harddrive looked good to me, I would risk a small amount of money, to see if I could get the harddrive to work again.
Again, just my personal preference, and not direct advise that this is what you should do.

I would buy an External Enclosure, and install the SATA harddrive in it. The External Enclosure also has a circuit board inside, and uses a USB cable to connect to the computer, just like the External harddrive that you have now.

Average cost for a decent external enclosure for a SATA harddrive is around $30 USD.

Here is an example, (Not an advertisement for the external enclosure manufacturer, or said website),

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2145406&CatId=2780

The external enclosures come with info about how to open the enclosure, and install the SATA harddrive.

Should you have gotten this far, thank you for your time.
Regards,
joecoolvette

Freezer is working and refrigerator side is not work.

Most times that is a sign of a defrost problem. And because yours has the defrost board made onto the mother board we will need to do some looking around for the problem. Unplug refrigerator and pull away from wall. On back there is a cover over an area that contains the mother board. With power off take the board loose and examine the board for burn marks, sign's of heat or melted away solder connections. If the board looks OK the return it to its place and remove the rear panel in the freezer section. Need you to disconnect one end wire on the defrost element/heater. Check continuity through the heater to make sure there is no burnout. The defrost thermostat is connected to one end of the defrost heater. The contacts are open when the temperature is 50 degrees or higher, so testing it would look bad above 50 degrees. Just look to see if there is any deformity. If defrost thermostat is defective it will not allow the defrost heater to engage or to remain on long enough. Let me know what you fins. Sea Breeze

You have to use the FN key and F5 to change between the LCD screen and the external monitor. It may be F8 also, depending on the laptop model.

Look on the F keys for a little picture of a monitor.

Once you have found it, hold the FN key and tap the F key and it should switch to the external monitor.
