Question about Canon ZR90 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Only blue screen, no functions work. Have to remove battery to shut off.

When I turn the power on, I hear the ding and the screen turns blue and the word Canon appears. No functions work. I can't take pictures or videos. I received this camera in 2005. It is probably a 2004 model. Also I cannot turn the camera off without removing the battery.

I just tried plugging it in to the outlet and it worked. I also put the original battery in and it worked. I thought the battery that is in it was charged up but maybe it isn't. I am charging it now so in the morning I will know if it is that battery or not.
    I really appreciate your help.
    Thanks and God bless,
    Jerry

No signal, only blue lcd-monitor, when playing my footage, yesterday it was ok. also trouble with recording

Did you try resetting the camera by turning it off, taking out the battery and removing any other source of power? Try this first to hard reset the camera.

Does the optical viewfinder function or is it also blue?

Hopefully hard resetting will solve your problem but if not then there may be an electronics fault in your camera.

I have had a jvc GZ-MG130U for a while. The kids have recorded a whole bunch of things and I finally downloaded it to the PC in order to empty the camcorder. But when I started deleting all the files,...

That's a bummer. I have the same camcorder and yesterday 10-3-2010 mine did the same thing. I deleted some files from the file folder located on my camcorder from my computer (which I learned not to do), went to the disconnect device on the computer and it said "safe to disconnect" so I did. The screen on the camcorder said "connecting to device" the whole time I was transferring files to my computer and after my computer said it was safe to disconnect. After it was safe to remove my camcorder, I unplugged the usb cable and tried to turn off the camcorder and nothing happened. I removed the wall charger and battery which finally turned off the camcorder. I then tried to turn the camera on and same thing as you, Everio sign came on and then the screen went blank. Nothing was accessible after turning the power on. One time an error sign appeared saying something like disc broken, need to restore disc to record video. I tried everything, turning on with wall charger and no battery, pushing buttons while it was turning on, holding down buttons, etc. Finally I tried something that made it work. Don't know exactly what I did, but it started working.
Solution: With the power in off position and the battery removed, as well as the wall charger cable removed, I flipped open the screen, opened the lens, connected the wall charger, turned switch to on position and let it run its coarse. It was on for 5 mins or less then shut itself off. I then flipped the switch to off, let it sit for a few minutes and turned it back on, while it was booting up (this part has no logic behind it) I pushed the "plastic" lock buttons for the battery and a screen appeared asking me if I wanted to restore the hard drive. I quickly clicked yes and all is well. The camcorder is back to factory settings but it at least works. Luckily I copied everything before it crashed. The key for the future is to not delete files from the camcorder while it's connected to your computer.
Sorry for the long post, but hopefully it helps.
Eric

Flip Ultra - freezes at initial Flip screen - will not shut off

I found a fix that worked for mine.
It was doing the same thing, freezing at the "Flip" screen and would not turn off. I did the remove the batteries deal. It worked once but issue reoccured 2 months later and the battery fix didn't fix it.
What did fix it was...
With the camera off, hold down the Right Arrow button and the trash can button at the same time and turn the camera on.
A few seconds later, I was at the start recording screen!!

Good Luck!

Tape eject

I have the same camcorder SONY DCR-TRV130 and have had this same problem.

The first time this happened, I was able to eject the tape by turning the unit to VCR, removing the battery then putting battery back in and pressing the blue eject button. Now 2 years later, same problem only the same solution did not work. I read many other solutions, and found one I had not yet heard of. They mentioned using a straight edge..... I was confused, but learned that the point is to try to press the blue eject button without having to completely open (lift) the door. I was able to use a strong paperclip (opened up or unfolded) I reached in with the paperclip and applied pressure to the blue button and as soon as I heard the "gears" turning, I lifted the door and the tape ejected.

Try it, I was very surprised that it worked. This has been a problem for me for about a month. I am pleasantly surprised to have a solution. Hopefully it will work for you too!

Mv600i digital video camcorder - no image on lcd screen in cam or playback mode

please someone help with this. My camcoder works very well when watching things I've filmed before but when I want to record it does not function. All I get on the LCD screen is the blue screen with Canon on it and through the lens it is black. The lens cap is of course removed. Then when I turn the red button to off position the camcoder does not turn off and the screen remains blue. I have to remove the battery to turn it off.
I've had my camera for 4 years and I filmed so many precious family moments in it.

Mustek DV-3500 DV Digital Camcorder /keeps turning off

Be sure the batteries are not the rechargeable types.  I had this problem when I first got my camera about 4 years ago.  Also, try adjusting the quality settings for the functions.  For example, set the photo function at normal rather than fine.
