Question about Dell 1600n All-In-One Laser Printer

Document Jam in Dell 1600n

Hello,
I have the problem saying " Document Jam" in my DELL 1600n laser printer. I don't find any paper or like that. I can print but cannot scan,copy or fax. Please help me.

    I have the same problem. I tied to look for the paper jam around the paper tray and the front cover and found a small black rubber piece was worn out and had come off. Could the problem be because of this rubber piece? Any suggestions? Thanks!

The Automatic Document Feed (ADF) has a white rubber pad that wears out. You can find it by opening the ADF cover and removing the roller bar. Under that is the white rubber pad. Pinch the sides together and the assembley comes out. Contact Dell for the replacement. You may also refer to the Dell 1600n Owners Manual for instructions.

I have a Dell 1600N printer with the legal tray. I love this product but it just started saying Jam # 2. I cannot find any paper jammed and the tech guy from dell had no answer for me. I would love some help. Happy Easter!

I have found that the ADF has a problem and needs to be changed.refer to manual or have tech change it.make sure to unplug power if attempting your self.

all printers are come with a cd.that the cd has the printer driver and troubleshooting software...

So that the troubleshooting software has the information to solve the paper jam problem...

Dell 1600n laser printer has error message of document jam


the automatic document feeder has a few sensors on it, most likely one of these has become displaced, ofter they are just clipped in so if you are handy with a screwdriver lift the lid and remove some screws from the bottom of the document feeder and gently dissasemble, not expert at this model but take it slowly or get someone handy to do it, once youve got to the circuit board in the automatic document feeder the problem will be one of the arms that breaks the beam in the optical sensor (black U shape) should just clip back in and problem solved.

Grey arm is in place. cannot find any paper anywher that is a jam


this can happen if any of the contact points on the cartridge are even remotely scratched or if the cartridge is "low" even if it doesnt say its low

when you removed the paper, a small piece might still be stuck somewhere or the sensor might have remained in the on position.

Dell 1600N warming up message


Hi Unplug the printer power cable from the wall and disconnect it from the printer as well. Turn the printer power switch on for 15 seconds. This will reset the printer. Turn the printer power switch off and plug the cable back in on both ends. Then turn power on. The Document Jam error should be eliminated.

Please keep in mind you must check for any small pieces of paper or look for a real paper jam prior to completing the steps above.

Check your manual feed tray. The printer may have a print job in memory that's pointing there.

Paper jam, Is this the fuser?


I have had the same problem. Changing the fuser is easy (about $85, and must be ordered through Dell) remove the 4 screws from the back, and you'll see the fuser. 2 screws, and 2 wires, and it slides right out.

Dell 1600n Will only print with sheet feeder open


Rollers may be worn out and not properly grabbing paper or a gear may be broken. You should be able to inspect by lifting cover to feeder and watching as paper is pulled through.
