Yamaha ysp 900 will not turn on,occasionly will come on if power socket is switched on and off rapidly,it will then just stop working randomly..

There are several reasons that can cause the power transformer to fail. The most common reason in Yamaha's experiences is overheating. When a transformer gets too hot, a heat sensitive device called a "thermal fuse" opens up. This renders the transformer useless and it must be replaced. All Yamaha products sold by our authorized dealers carry an Underwriters Laboratory or CSA Certification. This UL listing assures you that the product is completely safe to use when operated in accordance with your owner's manual. And should there ever be a failure within your unit, it will not shock you or catch fire or present any hazards to life or property. The thermal link in your transformer is a requirement to obtain the UL or CSA listing. This thermal link opens up instead of having your transformer catch fire or cause potential electrical hazards. Your amplifier should not have anything placed on the top of it, covering the vents. These vents need to be left open as that is how the unit cools itself. If your amplifier is in an enclosed cabinet, air movement could be severely restricted. Consider a small cooling fan for increased air circulation. Never remove the feet from the bottom of your unit, as there are ventilation holes on the bottom of your unit as well. Another reason for power transformer failure is a continuous heavy current draw through the unit over a prolonged period of time causing excessive heat buildup within your unit. This could be related to the impedance of the speakers you are using, the level of the volume control, and how many speakers you are using at one time. You can only use 1 pair of 4-ohm speakers, or 1 pair of 6-ohm speakers, or 2 pair of 8-ohm speakers. Any other combination or types of speakers that you are using other than what was just mentioned could lead to premature failure of your amplifier or power transformer. In addition, do not turn your volume control further than the halfway point. If you are doing this, you run the risk of damaging your amplifier or speaker system. (See Why Do I Keep Blowing tweeters/Midranges, And How Do I Prevent This From Reoccurring?). If the level of sound is not high enough for you when the volume control is at the halfway mark, then we recommend that you obtain a larger power amplifier. If you are going to evaluate the purchase of a larger power amplifier, you should choose one that has about double the power of the amp you are currently using. And be sure that your speaker system is capable of handling the power of the amplifier you are considering.

I get a loud static noise, when I first turn on the yamaha ysp-1. Lasts a few seconds. Have unplugged all inputs. Problem persists.

u have a cool sound projector but u have a baaaad power supply system. bad power supply design - u will get all sorts of noise when u power it up. i have a sub woofer with the same problem(which in my case is the way it is designed). i used a delay circuit. but in ur case i know YSP-1 has a clean start up. so, if the warranty still covers it get it replaced. static noises, pop noises are often caused by bad capacitors.

C515 ON THE MAIN POWER PCB (HAS 223 K 630HI PRINTED ON IT) HAS FAILED
Replace with a 22nf capacitor - Maplin part number N38CN -
the new maplin part has a higher voltage rating and is bigger. it will need to be fitted with the leads extended with wire to get it to fit.

Ysp-1100 clicks when power is pressed but does not turn on.

Sounds like a a pcb dry joint or a poor connection on a multiway plug / socket.

try removing and refitting all the pcb plugs - better still spray carefully with WD40

Goog luck, Gaz

Power Subwoofer doesn't work

Two possibilities:
1. Your source material does not contain bass frequencies.
2. Your SUBWOOFER SET - BASS OUT is set to Front, rather than SWFR (subwoofer). See page 63 of the manual.
