I just replaced the toner cartridge on my InfoPrint 1116. Even after changing the cartridge the error light stays on the toner low light continuously blinks. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jim Kalin

Can you tell me where the contacts are, and what they look like?
Thanks,
Jim

I think I've got it figured out. It had something to do with a gray sponge like roller in the bottom of the printer. It must have came loose during shipping. I don't get the error anymore, but the print quality is not the best.

I got in back in place. I of the clips that hold it in place was out too. It prints much better but after every second or third page three small smudges show on the left hand side of the page. Other than that it seems to be working perfectly. Are the transfer roller expensive, and where can I get one?
Thanks,
Jim K.

Make sure you shake it up when you install it too. The toner and developer may not be evenly applied in the cartridge.

Thats the transfer roller. That will give you copy quality problems if it isn't installed properly.
You might want to get a new one in case the roller is broken. It wont distribute the toner over the copy very well if there is something wrong with it.
There must have been a reason why it was out.

You could check with Lexmark. I think IBM transferred support of their printers over to them.
Sometimes the rollers need an electrical charge to work properly too. Usually it gets it from the shaft ends of the rollers. if you see and metal plates in that area you might want to make sure there getting contact there.

The error is "toner cartridge error" you could try cleaning the contacts inside the printer (with the power off, of course). If that doesn't work you will need to try another cartridge.

Your printer is the same as a Lexmark E322, if you google Tranfer roller for lexmark e322 ibm infoprint 1116 you'ii find several places that sell it. I would take a look at the image drum at the bottom of the toner cartridge and see if those marks are present on that, if so clean them off with a soft cloth, also check the fuser (the last unit the paper goes through before coming out of the printer, normally quite hot) if the marks are on that try cleaning them off with a cotton bud.
