My guess is that the pc is trying to use a drive letter that is already taken. Make sure the drive is plugged in. Goto Start -> run -> type compmgmt.msc and hit enter. Click on disk management. You should see the drive in the list. Right-click the external drive and click change driver letter. choose a letter that is not already taken. that should do it..

SOURCE: external hard drve

Hello,

First I would verify that USB ports are functioning properly by plugging another device into the port and verifying that it works. If it does, then you can try restarting the computer - as sometimes the computer will detect an external drive on startup. You should also make sure that the software provided by the manufacture is correctly installed.

DOSkey.exe is a function in DOS. Not an actual key. It just remember what you typed on the command prompt.

You can always copy DOS files into the USB drive and use from there.

Need to setup windows xp faxing

Hi,
Since you donot have the windows xp cd , you would not be able to enable the fax feature in windows xp home edition.
Alternatively you can download a fax program from the interent and configure the same to send faxes.

One such porgram is called snappy fax, can be downloaded from the link below
