Yes. It's spyware, so if you had decent anti-malware protection, you wouldn't've been able to install it in the first place, but that's another story.

Please download a programme called Revo Uninstaller from:--

http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html

Then use the "Advanced" uninstall mode. Follow the instructions and this wretched toolbar and all its hidden components will disappear.

You can hide the SweetIM Toolbar for Firefox by clicking your right mouse button while the cursor is over the SweetIM toolbar, and then selecting SweetIM for Firefox. If you prefer to uninstall the SweetIM for Firefox and remove it from your computer entirely, go to your Tools in Firefox menu and select Add-ons. Now select SweetIM for Firefox and click on Uninstall button.
Well, if you still want some answer. here. It's really effective. I've read it from the website of sweetIM.

To be sure, run a virus and spyware scan (personally, i'd advise Nod32 as an antivirus and Ad-aware for spyware).
Check the program folder for sweetim under

C: > Program files > Sweetim (or something similar)
look for an uninstall .exe file.
If you still have no luck, contact sweetim support about removing it.
If all else fails, delete the program manually AND reinstall internet explorer. (may I also reccomend Maxthon as a browser! =] )

Good luck!

SOURCE: i can't remove sweetim toolbar

Hi

Many IE tool-bars are deliberately designed to resist removal,
behaving like viruses, because the companies who write them
get revenue from site visit counters. Also many of these tool-bars
infect your computer whether you ask for them or not.
==============================================
(sweetim is categorized as malware by several watchdog sites)
==============================================

1) The first step in removing it, is to download a good ad-ware
remover, such as:

Ad-Aware from Lavasoft:
-----------------------------------
http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

or

Spybot Search & Destroy from Safer Networking:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

2) Both of these programs are very good at what they do,
and they are absolutely FREE.

3) Please be extremely careful to go to the legitimate web
sites and download the "Real McCoy" because there are
hundreds of fraudulent sites out there pushing rogue
anti-malware programs with similar names.

The rogue sites promise you a free scan, come back
with a bunch of false positives, and then extort you
for money.

4) Scan your computer with both products and they should
remove the critter.

5) If that fails, you may want to try anti-virus programs,
such as AVG, McAfee and Kaspersky.

( I do NOT like Norton's)

All of these product cost money, but they do have free
trial downloads, and they are a good investment. You
only need one of these, I prefer AVG by Grisoft from
the Czech Republic. (Version 8 with firewall is very good)

7) Another very useful tool is the startup monitor & startup
control panel from Mike Lin's website:

http://www.mlin.net/StartupMonitor.shtml
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

The monitor runs in the background and gives you
a warning message when a program tries to install
itself in the registry startup keys.

you can then choose to allow or block the action.
This will stop many bad programs in their tracks.

The control panel applet allows you to review and
manage all programs which startup automatically,
except for hooks and services.

6) If that fails, you will have to search running processes,
and search the registry to remove it manually
this gets complicated, and it is sometimes less work
to re-install windows, depending on your situation.

I don't want to get into that until you have tried
the other things.

7) Finally, I am concerned why you are still running version
3.1 of Internet Explorer, which is very old and has
virtually no security. You should be running at least
version 6 if not 7. (6 is better, 7 is bloated)

8) The best solution is to abandon Internet Explorer altogether
and switch to FireFox from Mozilla.org:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

What version of Windows are you running ?
Let me know if you need more help

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How to remove SweetIM from a desktop computer? Have already gone to remove add programs highlighted SweetIM it tries to remove the program however a pop-up window appears wih fatal error during...

First off, when you want to delete a program; I suggest getting REVO uninstaller. Revo will not only delete the program using the original removal method; but it looks into the registry for Left Over commands and erases them from there. The other thing you may experience is, your Internet Exployere has been changed from the original opening page to SweetIM. Got to the Gear Icon in the upper right corner of the page. right click, and got to the internet options and make the page MSN.com. Restart the Internet and see if that changes the opeing page to MSN. If so you may have eliminated the Sweet!
