Question about Televison & Video
It would help if we would have known how have you connected the dvr, with what cables and in what ports. But it appears that you have plugged the cables wrongly - look at them: not only do they have to be matched in colours but they have to be together in the same printed/ raised plastic line box..
Actually you would lose them only if you would get rid of it - the recorded shows are still there, in the hard disk. As a last resort you can just take the hard disk out of the dvr, put it in an external case and plug the case in a pc - it will appear as just another external hard drive and all the stuff will be directly accessible and viewable with a good media player like VLC.
The manual should be available at Verizon - ask them how and from whom you can get one.
