    Hi,
The gas range is manufactured by Whirlpool Mexico, S.A. DE C.V and the model NWF5900.

The problem is that the oven knob and shaft became dislodged during a manual cleaning of the gas range externals. I would like to get a procedure on how to go about fixing it to its original position.

can't help you with the noise. The knobs should only go back on one way - look at the shaft that the knob goes on, and it should not be a perfect cirlce - one side is flat. The knob should be the same way. Match them up, and push the knob down.

Bottom oven element stays hot will not cut off

In order for the element to stay on, the oven switch must be broken. No details are provided, but if your oven is like most, you have an Oven Selector knob for ~bake, broil, clean and another knob for Temperature selection.

Look at your Oven Selector knob closely to make sure it is not slipping on the shaft. It may be as simple as the knob being broken, and even though you are turning it to the Off position, the switch may still be on. If the knob is indeed turning the switch shaft, then it is most likely the switch stuck in the own position. Thanks for using FixYa.

Temperature does not always reach set point of 425 F.

Oven will not hold correct temperature:------- This can be caused if temperature probe not working.Resistance across temperature probe leads at room temperature (70°F) should be approximately 1096 ohms.----------- Other possibility for this problem is :--- Temperature control not calling for heat. When heat is required, there should be continuity between terminals 6 and 7 on temperature control.-----------Inadequate or improper ventilation.Check ventilation hood. Verify draw and make up air adjustment.-----------If all this checked out ok then its calibration problem. For calibration follow this procedure:--
It can be problem with temperature controller. TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER (Standard-Control Models Only) The calibration of the temperature controller should not be changed until sufficient experience with cooking results has definitely proved that the temperature controller is not maintaining proper oven temperatures. Before any recalibration is attempted, the oven temperature should be checked by the following procedure: 1. Remove all trays and pans from the oven. 2. Place a thermocouple or a reliable mercury oven-type thermometer at the center of the middle rack. 3. Turn the oven ON and set the temperature control knob to 400°F. 4. The amber "heat on" light will go out when the oven temperature is reached. 5. Allow three cycles for the temperature to stabilize. 6. Read the thermocouple or thermometer immediately after the light goes out for the third time, and again immediately after it comes on the next time. 7. If the average of these readings varies by more than 10°F from the dial setting, recalibrate by the following procedure. Recalibration should be attempted only by a competent service technician. Use the following procedure to recalibrate the oven: 1. Loosen the two set screws that secure the temperature-control knob to the temperature-control shaft. 2. Remove the knob from the shaft, being careful not to rotate the knob or shaft. 3. Replace the knob on the shaft so that the indicator mark on the knob points directly at the temperature that was measured at the center of the oven. 4. Re-check the oven calibration. ----------- Part number for temperature probe is 1181996 and you can order if from the Southbend service center. -------- If you want the manual and wiring diagram for your oven. Please click the link directly:-- http://www.retrevo.com/search/v2/jsp/mytrevo/myTrevo.jsp?page=man ----------- after you click the link,a page will open in that you fill the 5 letter number. And click the "download now " option. It will ask you to save or discard.Click the save option and download will start. It will take 2 mins to download. Then click the download file to open it.And go through the manual.------------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

We need a new bottom timer knob. Where can I get one? Thanks!

The cheap answer is at your local appliance recycler. You can also get knobs from electronics suppliers such as MCM Electronics, Mouser, or Digi-Key. MCM carries original appliance parts, so you may be able to find the part by sending an e-mail to their sales department with the brand and model number of the oven.

Otherwise, you will need to specify the shaft type (probably 1/4" D) and outer knob diameter.

I have successfully repaired cracked D-shaft knobs with JB Weld metal-filled epoxy. The hard part is clamping the pieces so you get a good fit when the epoxy is set..

RIGHT KNOB MELTED .WHY

Hi, Sorry but nobody wants to give bad news. There is a tube that comes from the control knob to the orifice that controls the amount of gas to the burners, my guess without being able to look at it is that the orifice broke at the connection to the tube and the flames are shooting back toward the knob. However it is possible that the venturi opening ( the screened part on the burner tube that sets on the orifice ) became dislodged. Either way you need to remove the grate, remove the burner assembly and then look ( under the cart from the back) at the tube and orifice for damage. You do not indicate how old any of this is and they do rust out. Parts are available but you have to determine if based on age and damage you want to replace any of it or all of it. If you inspect it and find something that you think you can fix you can get back to us for more help. If it is as simple as the dislodged tube and the parts are OK, reseat it and check it out. I wish you the best of Luck!

Oven consistently burns food no matter what temperature setting

Well, must confess, we had this problem once, after cleaning all the knobs. We put them back, reversing the two temp knobs. The correct placement, we found, was the left oven knob, since it is not self cleaning, does not have the word CLEAN. This is the far left knob. Next, from left to right, appearing very simmilar, also with temps 200 to 500, is the right oven temp knob, which does say CLEAN. Third from left is the right oven function knob, with CLEAN, Time Cook, etc, and no temp numbers. Hope your fix is this simple. Hope your cooking is looking good cooking.

Self clean light blinks, oven does not work

You were right. The locking mechanism switch somehow became jammed and the oven thought the door was locked, even though I could open the door. I didn't know if I was supposed to take the top off and moving the lever back and forth did not help. Finally I turned the oven on and just kind of jiggled the latch in the unlocked position. I kind of moved it back and forth furiously and the cleaning light stopped blinking and the oven light came on. I'm glad it is working now, but I will be manually cleaning my oven from now on! Thanks for your help.
