None of the functions work - including shutting the MP3 player off!
I have tried attaching it to my computer, and the computer does not recognize the device.

I made a recording but when I tried to replay it my Pilot froze. None of the buttons will function and when I connected it to the computer nothing happened. I plan to just wait until the battery dies but it's almost new and fully charged so I have to wait a projected 23 hours. Augh!

Reformatting my Insignia Pilot 4GB mp3

Most MP3 players have their own CD that came with the device. That should carry the stock firmware of your MP3. You need to connect the device to a computer and then load the CD. Through the instruction manual, you will have an idea on how you can re-flash the firmware.

If you're not so sure about it, you may contact the manufacturer and ask them for the latest firmware version that your device should be back to normal.

How to format Insignia Pilot 4GB* player?

First, to reformat the player, with the unit off, enable the lock and then plug in the usb cable. The player should show up as a removable drive that you can reformat. Second, the player software is in firmware and is not affected by reformatting.

Pilot error

Try reset, repair, and recovery methods to make sure it is not a software issue. If those methods fail, you have a damaged lcd screen, and the player will need to be replaced. There is no repair svc for damaged lcd screens.
