Question about Televison & Video
I had this problem on my Toshiba. After trying just about everything I called a Toshiba tech. He suggested unpluging the set for a couple of minutes so it would reset to original manufacture specs. It worked! He could not tell me why it happened and that it was a quirk in the set.

If your TV has no picture but still can play sound, you could potentially be looking at a defective lamp/bulb, a blown fuse, or any number of other electrical failures. Generally the best tip-off if you have a defective lamp or a blown fuse is if you noticed an unusual "popping" or "snapping" noise when you were last using your TV and it was fully functional.
Depending on the model you have, you may be able to check for defective bulbs/fuses and replace them without having to contact a repair technician, but always remember check your owner's manual before attempting any kind of repair. Not all manufacturers will provide information on how to do so, and any repair performed by an unauthorized technician may potentially void any existing warranty coverage.
If you're still not quite sure how to proceed, I would strongly suggest contacting your local Toshiba-authorized service center for further assistance.
Hope this helps you out.

This could be the backlight showing signs of death you might want to have that checked out.
If the unit is under warranty check this thing in for free repair if its not then go to the menu then adjust your brightness if it does not get brighter sounds like a backlight issue.
Thanks I hope this was Very Helpful for you!
