Question about Remington Health & Beauty

1 Answer

Remington r8150 shaver - new. Charged and 60 shows in lcd window. Pick up shaver and press the on button - get several 'hockey stick' patterns in the lcd window and shaver does not turn on. 60 starts flashing and then reverts to 0 with a small electric plug symbol in the center. If I turn it on before I take it out of the charger, it works, but the 0 shows in the lcd and the shaver stops after a minute of shaving. 60 shows flashing in the lcd. New, and I put it through the cleaning cycle and charged it over night. I can find no list of trouble shooting in its paperwork. What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like it may have am internal loose connection or bad battery. You should be able to plug the cord directly into the bottom of the shaver and run directly from the cord if needed

SOURCE: Remington es1000

The Remington ES-1000 was probably the best slot-head shaver ever made by Remington. I cannot believe that the market demand was so low as to prompt a cancellation of production. I believe that the production run was limited to about 4 years or so. I have 8 of these shavers and keep a couple old Remington slot heads around as well. The ES-1000 was not perfect. The batteries were way too small and stressed so battery life was poor. You could not buy individual blades as you could with past Remington slot-head units. Also, the edge of the head was too exposed and sharp and when used for body shaving would tend to cut the skin.Slot-head shavers are superior for body shaving and for skin that is suseptible to shaving bumps. They are also great for young men that are prone to ingrown hairs. My guess is that the Norelco 3 head has taken it's place. Those shavers actually use 3 small slot heads. Rumor has it that is trying to have a new slot head manufactured in Asia.

SOURCE: Remington MS2-250 shaver disassembly?

This shaver was pretty clearly not designed for battery replacement. To open, first remove the screen and blades, and unhook the metal collar from the tab on the back of the case. Then carefully pry off the black inset on the front of the shaver. Underneath it, near the bottom are two screws. Remove these. The case is now only held together by several plastic latches, which can be carefully pried apart with a small screwdriver. The two 2/3A size batteries are soldered to the printed circuit board, which can be pulled out (don't break the wires to the motor) by a little wiggling. The original batteries in mine are 1100mAh, and I have just ordered 1600mAh replacements. The new ones don't have tabs - so soldering them in place is probably going to be a challenge.

Good luck.

What does lcd display show when shaver is fully charged from new

Not sure of the model you have but does the owner's manual give you any idea of how it should display? Most I've seen either display a full bar of small rectangles, show '100%' somewhere in the display, of briefly flash every few seconds.

If you've charged for 34 hours I'd suggest just using it for a while, then plug it back in and observe the display to see what indications have changed.

My Remington shaver R7 diamond series does not charge or show lights. It has not been used for several years

Or the charger or the cable? When no lights are coming on there will not be any power coming from the cable.

Is it possible to replace the battery on remington f7790

Yes, open the shaver and try to match the battery, you can usually find direct fits here Although they are a little expensive as you can do some more research and find them cheaper somewhere else. The thing you need to be careful of is soldering any wires or plates to the new batteries.

I have a brand new remington r 9500 r rotary shaver which does not get charged when its adaptor is plugged into an wall power outlet. Please advise me to make this shaver do its job. Returning the item may...

Model R-9500 has been discontinued for several years. It is very possible that the batteries are dead because they are so old. You may need to replace them. You will find the correct battery type at See link below. You will need 2

To change batteries, remove three screws on back. The third screw is hard to see. To access it, you will need to remove the trimmer from the point that it pivots out from the shaver. Use a small flat screwdriver to gently pry the small plastic pegs from their corresponding sockets on the shaver body. Remove back cover. Inside, remove the metal clip that covers the batteries near the bottom of the shaver. Unsolder the batteries from the wires. Solder in the new batteries.

If you are not able to repair the shaver yourself, can do it for you. See link below

Rather then you buying a new battery or a new charger or taking your entire shave apart wouldn't it be alot easier seeing how it is new to return it this way also it wouldn't cost you anything in replacement parts as well message me back on your decision if you choose to we can take apart your new shaver which would void any warranty as well Thanks again Rick

I have charged it for more than 24 hrs and the shaver is hot, yet it does not turn on when i press the button, should i just return and replace it?!?

Same thing happened to my Braun trimmer. The internal batteries only have a certain rechargeable lifespan and then need to be replaced.

Can you take it apart and see what the battery voltage is and see what the ma (milliamp) rating is? Also battery size (length, width & diameter)?

With that information, we can probbaly find you a replacement battery. I did for my Braun and its as good as new now.

Good luck!
