I've dropped my Western Digital 250gb hard drive & now its not working. The light on the device does light up & the computer recognises that something has been connected but you cannot see the drive in the My Computer window. There is a clicking noise for about 10secs when the hard drive is starting up but then it gives up. I presume the thing is completely dead but is there any way of retrieving / transferring the data / memory. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :-)

I have just purchased the WD (Western Digital) 320GB portable hard drive and connected it to my imac. When I try to move files onto the hard drive i get the message that my file could not be moved because "Elements" cannot be modified. I have not been able to store any data on the hard disk.
After plugging in the hard drive via usb, the icon "Elements" does show up on the desktop
When I click on the "elements" icon on my desktop I get 3 files. "autorun", "autorun.inf" and "System Volume Information". When I click on these nothing much happens.
Please help me sort out this problem so I can store data on the WD Elements
Thanks
