Hi! Yes it can be but as a first course of action I strongly suggest that you unplug the unit from power source and press on for 15secs. to reset the scanner's system. After 15secs. please plug the unit to power source, turn the machine on and see how it goes. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
Nah I doubt that.. The motor turns so it aint the motor. What happens when you turn on the printer it first checks for paper jams, Paper inside and cleans the inkwells..
1.)try loading paper in all paper trays or feeders (if the last print was set for a feeder it will keep checking until it gets it..
2.) turn printer off..
in printers and faxes on your computer double click the printer and cancel all print jobs. Restart pc and verify all print jobs have been canceled if not repeat until it is..
turn on printer and press the cancel button if there is one.. else load paper in all trays and press the paper feed button..
I'm leaning to s stuck print job causing the problem and 1 of the above will solve it.. Let me know what happens so we can proceed from there..
oh sorry.. ok I'm thinking what happened here is that the scan head went out of sync.. ok lets try this
1.) remove top cover
2.) remove scanner glass
3.) unplug usb scanner cable
4.) pull the scanner head all the way to the top
5.) turn on machine
The scanner should reset itself automatically now..
if that fails unjack the head ribbon and see if the same problem occurs
The above should fix issue.. I'll be on line waiting a responce from you

The problem is not with paper, is when the scanner is making a start test , keeps pulling the scanner against the end and dont stops, then gives the message "scanner error, chek documentation"
On the epson stylus SX405 the scanner servo motor (when i turn on) keeps going without stop then gives an error message. Can it be the scanner servo motor fault ? Thanks
the error message is " a scanner error has occurred. see your documentation" this appears after the scanner motor keeps pushing the scanner against the end without stoping.
no, nothing off that works , i have try that before, thats why i think the servo is not detecting the end presure of the scan head
