Logitech quickcam express Install problem

Hi there,
I recently bought the Logitech Quickcam express and installed the corresponding driver for this (qc1150.exe) for Windows XP. I downloaded this driver from logitech.com website.
The install completes ok. Around completion of the install, there is a screen which asks to connect the webcam to the USB port and after I connect the webcam to an available USB port, nothing happens. It simply reads as "Waiting for connection" and waits forever. Though the webcam is connected, nothing happens. Can you help me here. Please get back to ganeshanat@yahoo.com
Thank you
G

I have had this trouble before. There are a couple of things you can do:

1) skip or cancel the detection. Restart Windows and see if the drivers will load up.

2) Unistall the drivers. Plug the camera in and let Windows load the drivers off of the cd. Don't run the Logitech setup.

Logitech loads up a lot of unnecessary software that memory resident that you probably don't need. By letting Windows search for the drivers, this should take care of the problem.

Logitech quickcam express webcam linux driver reqd

hi hari_kumarkp,

your webcam Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Express with 046d:0928 device id is supported on linux using the gspca driver, there are two options
1- you can download the source and recompile on your system for better performance, you can issue these commands from the terminal to install the driver:

user@localhost# wget http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca50x/Download/gspcav1-20071224.tar.gz
user@localhost# tar zxvf gspcav1-20071224.tar.gz
user@localhost# cd gspcav1-20071224
user@localhost# ./configure
user@localhost# make
user@localhost#make install

2- gspca is also integrated on new linux kernel version starting on 2.6.28, kernel upgrade is also an option
