Question about Fisher and Paykel Dishwashers

Open Question

Fisher & Paykel dishwasher model no. DW60CSW1 not washing property; when cycle finished I find "powerball" slightly dissolved in bottom of dishwasher or soggy in powder container. Should I ditch the "powerball" and go back to plain old dishwasher powder??? Or is it more sinister? Many thanks

1. No waterMake sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

2. Not enough water
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

3. Clogged spay arms
There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.

4. Water temperature is too low
To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.

5. Not enough soap
If you only fill one part of the soap cup, try adding soap to both parts.

6. Smoky film on dishes and glasses
This problem occurs due to excessive calcium build up inside the dishwasher. Try cleaning you dishwasher using a dishwasher cleaner.

SOURCE: powder not dissolving drain/inlet light sometimes flashes

I would guess the detergent door is open and the powder comes out so, If water is going in then the pump is not pumping.

Listen for the water to fill then after it stops open the door to make sure it's full of water. If no water or not enough then replace the water valve. If you have water then the pump is not pumping.

SOURCE: tablet falls out & doesn't dissolve especially on fast cycle

Hi and wlecome...
You should not use anything other than powered dishwasher detergent in these products. They are not designed for tablet-style detergents. The reason is because the dispenser does not "open" during the wash cycle like you would see on a conventional dishwaser. The incoming water pours over the detergent and releases the mixture out the bottom of the dispenser. The water temperature is not coming up to the required level. The heater might be failing. Will need a technician to fix unless you are very savvy with technical repairs. Have you tried using the detergent powder in the dispenser to find if results are different.

I have a Fisher Paykel DD24 dishwasher and when using top drawer after wash cycle is complete there is always water in drawer. Top drawer is unable to drain water after wash cycle is complete...what can I...

If the cycle is complete and dishes are clean, then you need to worry. Try to pull the drain hose up a bit under the sink. Also buy a Finish dishwasher cleaning kit and run dishwasher as per instructions on the kit. That should clean any obsrtuctions in the drain side.

Generally what type of detergent you use depends on what is recommended for the dishwasher. I am not sure which model of fisher and paykel dishwasher you have. But my opinion is that dish drawer type dishwashers work better with normal Finish powder detergent. It is not designed for tablets. The size of the wash space is small and it works on the principle of short and quick wash cycles. So the powerball is an overkill. Now about the streaking, this could be linked to the powerball but also you need to check if the rinse aid is present in the dispenser and also that you have selected the appropriate meter level for it being dispensed. 0 means no rinse aid and 5 is too much.;

Dishwasher tablet not dissolving during wash cycle

I am not sure if you can use dishwashing tablets with this model of dishwasher. These are designed mainly for powder only - you should be able to shut the detergent compartment door before starting the dishwasher.

Make sure the compartment is not blocked preventing inlet water from circulating through.

Have you got your dishwasher on an extended drying cycle?

Normally it works for about 10 minutes after the wash cycle is complete - not hours.
