Check to see if you have a recovery partition on the hard drive. When some computers first power up you see some options like "Press F2 to enter setup, F3 to perform system recovery, etc..." If this is what your computer shows, press the appropriate key to perform the system recovery and follow the screen prompts. If you don't see any options like this, try entering the system BIOS during power on and see if there is an option in the BIOS menu to perform a system recovery. Make sure you back up any files you want to keep before performing the system recovery because they will be deleted.

Most cases this is a sign that you CPU (main processor) has failed. this could be due to over heating. This will need to be repaired at a local computer shop.

flash your bios. there is a jumper next to your cmos battery (looks like a giant watch batter) and move the black jumper over one to cover the not covered pin and athe already (middle) covered pin. also you can try and remove the cmos battery for about 2 minutes (COMPUTER OFF) and put it back on it will reset your bios back to factory settings (english). If that still resets it back to Taiwanese its under the 2nd to last tab for language. or the very first tab i cannot recall which exact bios this pc has. you can also try downloading a bios update first. from ibms website

CD drives are made so cheaply nowadays that it's most likely one of the components in the drive has failed. With the low price of CD drives it's probably best to just put in a new drive.

Problem for Dell PowerEdge 2450 Server CD/DVD ROM

Hi,

Its doubtful that its the cables. Can you tell me what type of DVD/CD you have? For example SATA or IDE. Look at the picture below, these are hard drives but the connections on the optical drives are the same>>>>>

If the interface is IDE then check the jumper settings if they are both on the same cable.
Also check another CD/DVD in the drives.

Let me know how you get on.

Regards.

Hi, My family recently purchased a Brother MFC-210 and brought it home thinking you could hook it up with a USB cord. To our surprisement, no USB slot was on the printer and could only be hooked up with a...

You need to use a category 5 Ethernet cable, not a standard phone cord. A Cat5 cable has 8 wires, where a phone cord only has 4. Surprising that you got anything to print. Look at the connector to verify that it has 8 connecting pins. It is also wider than a phone connector plug. You need to plug the printer into a Ethernet Hub or Switch which in turn connects to your ethernet (network) card or port on the computer. It will most likely not work if you plug it directly into your computer.
