Question about Star 39 JetStar Popcorn Maker

2 Answers

I have a Star model 89, manufactured in about 1986. Its a 14 oz kettle, and everything works, however the kettle will not pop the corn. The kettle is hot to the touch from the outside, but will not pop the corn. I have tried using a smaller amount of corn/oil, but still no luck.

THE REASON ITS NOT POPPING IS THAT KETTLE HAS A 1250 W AND A 300 W ELEMENT IN IT. THERE IS A THERMOSTAT FOR EACH . ONE OF THEM IS PROB. BAD. COULD BE AN ELEMENT OUT BUT MORE OFTEN ITS THE THERMOSTAT. MY GUESS IS ITS THE THERMOSTAT FOR THE 1250 WATT ELEMENT . WHEN YOU LOOSE THE OTHER ONE IT USUALLY JUST SLOWS IT DOWN A BIT BUT, WHEN THAT ONE IS OUT THE 300 WATTS THATS LEFT JUST WONT DO THE TRICK.

Make sure your agitator arms are properly functioning. If the corn is not being properly stirred, it will not pop. Also, make sure you are using the correct type of popcorn oil.

Don't have a manual need to know how to operate Do I add oil or butter in bottom with the corn if so how much?

the ratio for popping corn with oil is three parts corn to one part oil . So a 6 oz kettle you would use 6 oz of corn seed to 2 oz of oil. Don't use butter to pop, it will burn.

What is the corn and oil amount for treat time popcorn popper tpc 603

I am not fimiliar with that brand . the corn/oil ratio is 3 to 1 so if you add 1-1/2 cups (12oz.) of corn with 4 oz. of oil the popping cycle from the time you dump the corn and oil in to when you dump it shoul be around 3-1/2 min. if its much longer its too much so try 8 oz of corn and 2-1/2 oz. of oil. By you using this test or formula I am assuming the kettle thermostat is set correctly already.

I lost the instructios for the amount of kernals to put in and if put oil in the well

If you have no idea what brand or model number you have and the kettle is heating properly you can figure it out pretty close just by timing the popping cycle. The ratio is 3 parts corn 1 part oil. so a 12 oz kettle would be 12oz of corn (1-1/2 cups ) to 4 oz of oil. A good popping cycle takes about 3 1/2 min from the time you add the corn and oil to dump time. you can make ajustments for the results you get.

I bought a used treat time mini popcorn machine.

three parts corn to one part oil. so 6 oz corn to 2 oz oil. if it takes over 4 min. in a hot kettle (if its heating rite) its too much for it, if its done under 3 min. not enough .

Pop corn spinner stop workin

That is a common problem in the Star Model 89. Replacement motors are available from restaurant parts supply houses.

They stopped making that model in 1992, so the part will be fairly expensive, in the $200-$300 range.

Generally, you want 3 oz. of corn to one 1oz of oil. The amount of corn you can put in the kettle depends on the size of the kettle. So take the kettle size, (I think that machine is an 8 oz popper) and divide 8 by three to get 2.66 oz. (about a third of a cup) of oil needed. So you would use 1 cup of corn, and a third cup of oil.

How much pop corn and how much oil in the 4 oz kettle popper?

It all depends on the model you have. If you have a CCP-509 or 510 it takes 1 TBSP of OIL and 1/2 popping corn.

You can call 1-920-347-9122 if you need a manual.
