Hi,

Try uninstalling the drive in device manager and then reboot, windows will automatically detect it again and re-install the drivers again for you.
The drivers may have been corrupt, if this does not work then the firmware on the drive might be corrupt.

Let me know how you get on.

Good luck....!

Toshiba P25 cannot read cd

Make sure it has power (ejects). Check Device Manager in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Right click My Computer > Manage. Select Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Now delete all DVD/CD-ROMs and reboot. Windows will say "New Hardware Found" and install. Check BIOS by pressing F key (correct F key is noted during boot) and make sure BIOS see's the Optical Drive.

Hi my dvd/cd RW unable write dvd

What is the make and model of your DVD/CD RWdrive?
Check to specification of your drive.
Some combo drives can only burn CDs only and read DVDs & CDs.

I need install CD/RW-DVD Model GCC-4243N in Tecra 8100 PT810C-11C52, but in screen show error# IDE1 Bios is Version 2.10, maybe I need upgrade Bios?. The CD Rom old is an SD-C2302. Thank for your help,...

Yeah... that's common. The Toshiba DVD drives uses a different drive select than other people's DVD drives. Look to the manufacturer of your DVD/CDRW drive and look to see if there's a firmware update that will allow you to set the drive select differently. If not, then you'll be stuck with the IDE1 thing forever.

Now... here's the fun part: some of these drives will give you an IDE error, they'll never boot, but some of them will work perfectly when you get into Windows.

Sorry

Hi,

Ok i've done alot of research on this drive this afternoon, here is what I found.

This drive is notorious for producing problems with either DVD or CD disc's not being read and I have found no-one that has resolved this issue.

There are firmware updates available for the drive, however they will not solve the issue and they are thrid party ones and not stock ones from Liteon - If you want the web address for them I can give you it but I don't endorse 3rd party firmwares and you will have search for the actual firmware for your device once your there.

As for the drivers, can't find any stock drivers anywhere.

My personal opinion is to replace the drive, there are plenty on eBay to choose from.

Sorry if its bad news.

Cheers

sounds like you're suffering the jungle DVD fever disease, most likely from excess salt air exposure(same thing happens over here on Hawaiian islands). So, just swap out the DVD for another one, and mark your calendar for same drill in another year.

got backup for your computer?

Acer TravelMate Notebook 4502LMi DVDRW SOSW-852S (PRS9) Replacement

My recommendation is to get the exact replacement that Acer recommend. OR a third party equivalent.

In saying that as long as one has a warranty for said device, then really anything else is a moot point.

I think you will find that the Panasonic drive will be more than suitable.
