This not the problem. We are having the same issue and the machine is eating the cyan imaging units. Whatever it is, and I am hoping to discover it, is a deeper issue.

This is caused by either a problem with the Transfer Belt Unit or the Cyan Imaging Unit. Since the lines are only in Blue (Cyan) I would more suspect the Cyan Imaging Unit. These can be released and slid out of the machine very easily and you could look at the drum to see if the lines are there. When you slide out the unit the drum (long greenish colored cylinder) is right there on top and it should be clean with no toner lines on it. If there are lines then that would be your proof. Also try using your cleaning tools on the Imaging Units as well. This is the wand that is clipped inside the front door. There are also little blue knobs on the units you can pull out and push in a few times to clean wires inside the units. This will sometimes fix the lines. If not you may have to have the Cyan I/U changed.
Good Luck and Thank You for usng Fixya.

The repeating image is a ghost image, and here is described what it can be. Probably if you solve this, you also solve the red-dot problem. If possible, I would suggest to replace the wiper blade.
Repeating images on laser printerThis likely means a faint ghost of the main printout at a distance equal to the circumference of one of the rollers or photosensitive drum.

Depending on where the problem originates, this could be a bad wiper (cleaning) blade, faulty corona, or incomplete fusing.

  • If the distance between successive images is equal to the circumference of the photosensitive drum, it is a wiper blade, erase lamp, or corona problem.A residual latent image or residual toner is sticking to the drum and not being properly cleared.

  • If the distance between successive images is equal to the circumference of one of the fuser rollers, then the fusing may not be complete due to damaged rollers or an incorrect temperature setting.

It is easy to determine where the problem is located: Interrupt a printout in mid-stride (where part of the paper is between the toner/developer and fuser. If the un-fused image has ghosting, it is a fault in the area of the drum

We spend a large portion of our day desperately trying to load paper and always getting the "paper loaded with too much skew" message. The paper is straight and on the blue line, i'd love to trun...

What type of paper are you using? It's common on cheap canvas or fabrics. Make sure the beginning of the roll about 10 inches must be straight in right side (blue line side). The paper slips upward freely and straight before lowering blue lever. Also this problem appears when your room is dry (low moisture) then PP sticker and some photo paper will curl. This checking feature is very useful for printing on whole roll in a single feed.

Red and blue lines across printouts

open printing preferences and click on maintenance. Run the print head alignment utility. Sometimes this will remove the horizontal banding. I had this same problem and had to uninstall the printer and reinstall just like it was new, running the alignment feature before it was corrected. Worked ok for a few days then started again. I assumed that the printhead is bad. To costly to repair and bought a new printer.

Changing paper on HP Designjet 5500 Plotter

Step 1. Install a roll of paper on the spool, and install the spool on the printer. The fixed end of the spool should be on your right side as you face the printer. The paper should come off the top of the roll.

step 2. open the window and support it with the built in support. Lift the blue handle, located just to the right and above the spool adjacent to the black roller.

Step 3 Pull out about a yard of paper and feed it in front of the black roller and in back into the printer. You really don't need to be precise, the path will accept the paper. Keep pushing the paper until it comes up the the top, then pull the paper from the top.

Step 4 If the edge of the paper is cut square just line it up with the front edge of the printer and on the right there is a blue edge guide mark. If the paper has not been cut square then pull it out far enough that it reaches the spool and line the left and right edges up with the roll and also the blue line.

step 5 Lower the window and the handle. The printer will attempt to install the paper. Respond to the questions that appear on the screen and you should be good to go.

I can walk you through it by phone if you need more help.

Some of these problems are addressed in the Service Manual p242 onwards with illustrations and correction procedure. You may have to talk it through with EPSON technical support/or obtain a technicians support. What is shown does not exactly fit your description so here's hoping.

Hi,
The first thing i would try to do is clean the corona wire on the drum unit. It might also be a faulty magenta cartridge.
