Question about Hitachi DZ-MV730A DVD Camcorder

1 Answer

Neither Vista or XP will recognize the miniDVD's from my camcorder.

On Windows XP (my desktop), most of the time it won't even recognize that there's a disk in the drive. On Windows Vista (my laptop), it only recognizes the disks as blank DVD's. I've tried searching Hitachi's website and Google for software that will allow my computer to recognize the disks, but I had no luck. Please, if you know of any software that will allow my PC to recognize Hitachi's special format, reply with a solution.

I'll try that, though I believe that the disk is already finalized.

You have to finalize the disc in the camera before you can see it on your PC.

TRANSFER TO PC

Hook up camera let windows say find new hardware. FOllow the prompts. Acording to Sony Xp has the driver already unless it is a 64 bit. See Below:
  • The drivers needed to connect most Sony® cameras and camcorders to a computer are already included in the Windows Vista and Windows XP operating systems. With these drivers, you should be able to connect and transfer files to a computer.
Note: If the your camera or camcorder is not recognized by the computer when connected, you may need an updated driver.
  • Detailed Windows Vista compatibility information is available for Sony Cameras and Camcorders.
  • The Windows Vista Starter edition and Windows XP 64-bit operating systems are not supported.

My computer no longer recognizes my JVC GR-D70U mini DV cam when I plug it into a usb port.

Hi, I am not sure. But I believe the camcorder has to be on when you connect to the computer. and I assume you use firewire for this particular camcorder.
I too once had this problem when I used Windows Vista. If you too use Vista, try it with Windows XP.

cheers,

Canon gl2 camcorder, how do i download my film to vista

I'm having the same problem. I don't have the disks with the camcorder and Vista is not recognizing nor seeing the camcorder. I'm going to try to download Zoombrowser and see if that makes it work.
