Er- when it does that to me i turn it off manualy and start it up again.
if all else fails look for replacement data online for all the main .dat folders on the Mp3

I had to go in on my PC and remove all the songs and start over. its pure ****. save your money and buy a decent one.

Mine was doing the same thing, with a little trial and error I found that this player will not recognize the .wav (wave) format songs. It will only recognize mp3 and wma type formats. When I deleted all of the wave formatted songs from the mp3 player and disconnected it from my computer and turned it on it worked perfectly. I hope this helps.

It's either the sigmatell chip thats not working properly or the firmware is falty.
my opal m4204 quit working on me because the sigmatel chip fried for no reason. so now when ever i start it or rather try to the chip super heats in 3-4 seconds to the potin that it will burn. i don't kno where to get a new piece or even take it to get it fixed but thoese are most likely the problem.
