Dvd shutting down after installing HP Printer 4200

OK, this may sound crazy BUT we have had 2 computers one we built, and one brand new one. BOTH worked fine in my home but when I gave them (one at a time) to my mom and installed her new HP Printer , each time we try to play a DVD we get error messages and then the dvd player shuts down. This happens with Real Player Windows Media and the ASUS DVD that I installed. It did work before we installed her printer. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sure sound like you have what we call a "conflect" in a port. Go to START then SETTINGS AND CONTROL PANEL. When your in the control panel find the "SYSTEMS" icon, double click on it now. Next you will see a series of Tabs, the one you want is labeled "Hardware", click to display this panel. The next thing you need to do is to click on the button labeled "Device Manager". You are now looking for the "Ports" icon. If this icon has a Yellow check, or a Red check mark on it , that means that it is not sharing nice with something else on the computer. Different Printers and all other items, run on a IRQ port. Now click on th |"x" to open the "Ports", do you see the yellow or red checkmaark?, if you do then right click the item with the check mark on it. Go to Properties and in the General" tab (the first one you see), it will tell you what is going on. The next tab is the "Ports" tab, review this and reply and let me know what is happening. I will be able to help you better when i know what port is in conflict and whether it's yellow or re labeled.

We have installed a new Colour cartridge and followed the steps. Yes, it clicked. After we press ok, it goes back to telling us to install the cartridge. We have completed this process over many times now...

Solution 1:
A lot of printer cartridges have a built in chip that the printer reads. If you are not using the printers brand name refills, this will sometimes lead to the cartridge not being recognized by the printer.

Solution 2:
Additionally, some printers when they have become worn ( seen a lot of use ) have also been known to not recognize the refill cartrige after instalation. The second problem cause, although not a popular solution, can only be fixed by purchasing a new printer.

I hope you have found this to be helpful. Please rate/vote! Thank You!

Hello, HP's printer technicians screwed up my new

That's pretty crazy! I would have told you to turn the printer off, and unplug it from power. Same thing with the computer. Then follow a few basic procedures.

Better grab a cup of coffee, this is going to be a long one.

I have no idea what changes, the 'tech' implemented on your computer. Would have to undo what the 'tech' did step by step.

I do know one thing, however. Using the Restoration Disk/s, is not going to fix Adobe CS4.

We'll have to go step by step. I can only guide you if you have Windows Vista. (The HP Pavilion Elite e9180t is also offered with Windows 7)

Ready?

Printer:

Printer off, unplugged from power. USB cable unplugged from computer side.

You need to go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs.
(Left-click on the Windows start button, then click on Control Panel. In Control Panel click on Add/Remove Programs)

When Add/Remove Programs loads, find the HP OfficeJet software listed. Go to the right, and left-click on Remove.

If it asks, 'Do you wish to restart your computer?', the answer is NO.
Close Add/Remove Programs. Close Control Panel. Go back to your desktop screen.
Shut your computer down normally.

Unplug the computer from power. Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of at least Five seconds. Let go of the Power On button.
Do this procedure two more times.

What you are doing is clearing CMOS Error Codes, and resetting BIOS back to the factory default settings. (No, do not take the CMOS battery out)

Now plug the computer back into power. WAIT 1 minute. Turn the computer on. Let Windows load all the way.

Install the installation CD for the OfficeJet printer, into your DVD drive. Install the software. If it asks you to restart your computer, go ahead, and do so.

After Windows has fully loaded again, plug the USB cable of the printer into the computer. Turn the printer on. You should get a message out of your system tray.
'Found New Hardware', and perhaps another one,
'Found Officejet printer'.

You should now have your printer back online.

Quicktime:
Go to Add/Remove Programs, Click on Change.
In the options given, click on Repair.
If this doesn't do it, go back to Add/Remove Programs, and - Remove, Quicktime. Now go to Apple - Quicktime - Download, and download the newest version for Windows Vista.

(If you need help with this, let me know)

Will add more in additional comments section.

New Computer with Vista shuts down by itself when not in use

To get to the Event Viewer, click the start button and in the search box at the bottom, type

eventvwr

and press Enter. Click Windows Logs and check the Application and System logs for any errors that occur when the computer shuts down.

If your computer was fine before the RAM upgrade, take the RAM back out and leave it alone for a while to see if it shuts down.

Also, change your screensaver.

Computer freezing

The shutting down as well as the freezing issue could have been caused by any one or all of the hardware you replaced.......the trick is to change one thing at a time to help narrow it down

Assuming the Ram/HD/PS are new and ok I would look at overheating problems.... is the computer dusty ...look at the Heatsink on the CPU is it clogged with dust and are all the fans working ......use an Air compressor or a can of air from a computer shop to blow the dust out....

Another reason could be a Virus or spyware/malware ....run a full Antivirus/Spyware check ........

No Sound..Can't Change Theme..

Hello, I might be able to help. It sounds like you need to reinstall the sound and graphic drivers for your computer. In order to find out which drivers to use you need to know the brand and model computer you have (i.e. Dell dimension 3000, HP 510, etc.). Visit the manufacturers website (i.e. Dell.com, HP.com, etc.) , click on support and downloads, enter your brand and model computer, and that you want to find the drivers. Finally, once you find the drivers page for your model, simply download and install them.
