Mine is an A75 and I also have a black screen when I want to take pictures and I can take a picture of the black screen but I can still look at the other pictures I took before it turned black.

Pictures black, Display black - A75 PowerShot by Cannon. Several years old. Is there anything i can do to fix the problem at low cost or is it time to replace?

I also had the same problem: The camera was working fine and one day it had a black screen and would not take photos. It will still allow me to see the menus and previous photos. The camera was not dropped or anything. I don't know what to do. Is there a place in California to take it?

  • maggiespearl Jul 07, 2008

When turned on the screen is black. Sometimes there are red lines across it. I can view photos I have taken previously, but not view a photo about to be taken and does not take pictures. Like the others, I have not dropped the camera.

I have a Canon PowerShot A75 Digital Camera. The problem is when I turned it on last evening, there was NO image in my viewer. I decided to take pictures anyway to see if any pic's would show when I switched to view, but nothing. I downloaded to computer and nothing but back in every frame.

HELP!!!

Canon Powershot A70: LCD screen went blank - I can still access all menu functions (timer, resolution etc), but the screen is completely black otherwise. If i take a picture using the manual view finder,...

I had a A70 that would still take pictures, but the screen did not show a picture. I did some research and found that this is somewhat a common problems with some of the Canon Powershots to include the A70 where the LCD screens expire. I believe that if the camera gets too hot, such as being left in a vehicle the LCD seperates. I sent my camera to Canon and they fixed it for free. It took about 4-6 weeks to receive my camera back, and now it works perfectly. They did a great job on communicating with me, and fixing the issue. I think that alone is worth buying a Canon. The link below should help you.

mine just started doing the same thing a few weeks ago. I had downloaded pixes to the computer, went outside to take picture and it started acting up. strange lines appear on the screen, but the codes are all there, and you can view the pictures that are on the card. no, the card is not full, the batteries are fine. I think it has a virus built in to start trouble so we will go buy a new one!
