Lenses on K10D do not focus correctly on low f stops eg; f1.4/2.0 but focus well on higher f stops eg f11. On the lower f stops the lenses are back focusing by around 4 to 5 cm. Any help Thanks

Although you think the lens is in focus, when stopped down, I know it is not.
There are enough articles that tell about Depth Of Field, but I give a short explanation.
The DOF from a 50 mm lens on a APS-C camera, when set to f /1,4. when you focus on 1 meter, is just 2 cm when on f /4 you have a totoal of 6 cm and on f /11 it is 11cm. So wen your camera / lens combination has a back focus of about 5 cm, it will come within the 11 cm you get in f /11. Still the picture is not in focus, but you see what you want to see sharp.
I searched through the complete manual, scanned the review on Dpreview and searched the site from Richo, but noting to find about correcting back or front focus. on the K10D. Perhaps, because in the days this camera came on the market, they thought the photographer who uses f /1.4 lenses is used with manual focus.
I'm, not sure, but perhaps someone on the Richo / Pentax service centre can tell you, if they can correct the setting for your lens.

To my experience, the front or back focus is in the camera. (the six or 7 lenses I use on my camera, all have the same back focus, but my Nikon has a setting to correct that.

So if you want to use your lens without any change made to your camera, there is only one option, focus manually.

Sorry I could not find more.

Adjust headlights

the bulbs are pre-set in focus and if fitted correctly in the head light assembly they will be focused and adjusted correctly. Try adjusting the whole head light assembly by the 3 screws / adjusting knobs at the back of the assembly to aim the head lights correctly.

My focus keeps blurring for a while and then for no apparent reason corrects its self

This is called focus pumping, and can occur. Nothing to worry about. If the camera has enough light or there is lots of contrast in the object you want to take a picture of, it will be less. The correct focus is found quicker.
Every camera in autofocus, needs to find the correct focus. Only the bigger and expensive DSLR's, will focus a little faster then the compact camera's. Still Every digital camera has this effect, although not every on is as observing as you I think.
Only when it takes several seconds every time you want to take a picture, it could be an error. But when it was on focus and you want to shoot a second picture from the same situation, and is is quick in focus again. Your camera is ok.

Blurry pictures

I don't know how much experienced you are with a digital camera. Don't even know you have any experience with any camera. But the modern camera's are capable of taking sharp pictures, is used right.
But to let the camera do its work correct it should be setup correct and used correct.
Let me explain.
Most camera's have a possibility to make pictures in automatic. (dail on the green camera symbol) But still there is more to do.
Every camera has a point (or more points, that are used to focus the picture. You can use to put that point where you want the picture be in focus. Most of the time that would be the centre of the frame. But the camera can't focus in theoretical a blink of an eye. It needs some time, to find the focus by differences in contrast, or patterns. A DSLR sometimes can focus in less then a tenth of a second. Compact camera's could need up to one second, before they are in focus.

So try to setup the camera to automatic. Place the focus marks (as described on page 6 of the manual. Then press the shutter realise button half and look if the camera can focus. If it can't, release the button and try again. When the pictures is in focus, then you can press the button fully.
On page 33 of the manual, there are different modes of focus. be sure you use the mode you chose in the correct way.

link to the manual I refer to.

Pictures didnt develop

Hi Steph Johnson,
Numerous things could be the issue. 1, dirty lens, clean the front and back element, 2. The camera focus is not working properly not focusing on the correct spot. So, are you manual focusing or auto focusing? If it is auto then there could be an issue with that. If your are manual focusing are you sure your diopter setting is correct for your eyes, if not then it may appear correct in the viewfinder, yet be off focus.

Do you have a way to check the lens on a DSLR? If so you can try that lens on the DSLR seeing if there is an error with the lens or if it is your film camera.

Cordially

I have a Cannon EOS Rebel xsi SLR camera. When I look through the viewfinder the image is blurred. IT worked fine the last time I used it, but this time it is blurred and I haven;t been able to correct...

Two possible situations. It might be that the lens focusing system isn't working. Try focusing by hand (turn the lens manually) If the image moves through a point of sharp focus, then you have a lens or focus motor problem.
More likely, you have improperly adjusted the diopter. There is a small, circular wheel on the right side of the viewfinder, toward the top corner. It is sometimes covered by the rubber viewfinder hood so you might not notice it. This adjusts the diopter correction in the viewfinder and if it's set wrong, nothing will ever look in focus. The pictures would be fine, but since the diopter is a correction for your eyesight, the viewfinder will be out of focus.

Is there a Magic Focus function on 53XDF01B?

The correct model is 53fdx01b. There is a mogic focus button on the front of the set. Procedure for Chassis DP05F, DP05, HP11, HP12:
1. Press and hold the DIGITAL ARRAY or CONVERGENCE ADJUST button on front panel.
2. While the button is held down, then press the INPUT or ANT button on remote control.
3. The unit will now be in the DCAM.
NOTE:
1. Proceed with digital convergence adjustment.
2. Remember to save the correction data.
3. Units with MAGIC FOCUS only - Failure to initialize MAGIC FOCUS sensors after saving
convergence correction data will result in a STATIC (+) display when MAGIC FOCUS attempts
to run. The technician will then be required to access the service only switch behind the front
cover to get back into the DCAM to initialize the sensors, since the procedure to access DCAM
without removing the front panel, requires MAGIC FOCUS to be running.
4. To exit, press the POWER button on the front panel.

Lack of focus

I knew the problem was with the auto focus. First time I called the camera shop..they said "bring it in, we'll diagnose it...for about $200.) I tried a cvouple of days later...he said they would trouble shoot for free.

HOWEVER...he said to check to see that the lens was seated securely and correctly. I had taken lense off a few weeks ago and it was not reinstalled correctly. One small twist of the lens and back to perfect forcus!
